Katie was technically the first one up today when she ventured off to the pool first thing. After breakfast we left the hotel but on Katie's word we headed to Macdonalds for a 'hot' tea...!

12 miles down the road we entered 'Petrified forest/Painted desert' This is a place where years ago, basically pre-historic times the forest due to silt and carbon etc, turned to stone over centuries and you can take a 27 mile tour drive through it. The site is pretty amazing, and at times feels like you are driving through volcanoes.

Myself and Katie thought this would be a good opportunity to drive, Katie went first.... She swapped with Nige at the car park before we entered the forest. So Nige gave her some tips starting with 'to keep right' 'Yes I know that' said Katie. So again Nige reiterated himself 'to keep right' YES' Katie said. It was at this point Nige said 'well move over then' as she was on the left side the whole time!

Then it was my turn I took over at a view point about 10 minutes into the desert drive, at 4mph I attempted to drive out the car park and slammed the brakes so hard that Nige and Katie nearly flew out the windscreen. Anyway it wasn't long before Nige was driving again (and no doubt very relaxed!!) We soon passed the old route 66 road that is no longer driveable, but ran through Petrified forest years ago. Shortly after this we was on our way back to Albuquerque.

We drove through some Rt 66 towns that we missed on the way out to complete our route then picked up I-25 only to hit traffic for the first time! We arrived at Keith & Sylvia's at 6pm in time for a BBQ. This is where we took our sunset pics! Anyway up at 5am tomorrow for the balloon festival - Weather Permitting!

Safe Driving!
Really pleased that Nige is keeping his drivers under control with helpful hints like "keep to the correct side of the road". Mind you he is very experienced at that, I was once his passenger when he drove through Leeds city centre on the right hand side!! Sounds like your having a great adventure. H i Gang, Whilst you lot are getting your kicks on route 66 I will be having my fun on route A1 !! Off to the Everton game in the morning. Were taking my great nephew James for his SJP baptism so hope he has a really good day. Then again, do I want to subject him to a lifetime of all things nufc? mmm! Dont know what the time difference is but I think it will kick off about 8am USA time. If thats the case you will know the score by 10am. Can you let us know as we will only be 3 hours up the A1 by then!! Have a good day guys, speak to you later Paul x

Poo Poo Castle
Hi guys, All's good here. Hope its ok on the Isle of Sheppey! Off to Vegas tomorrow, so that will be great and I get to do lots of shopping, but not looking forward to the 8 hour journey! By the way I think Nige has posted a message!!
