So, this is it! 6 months has come and gone. It’s kind of hard to believe it’s over already. Not that it went by quick or anything – Hawaii, Vietnam, India, they all seem like such a long time ago. But it’s kind of sad and exciting at the same time that our trip is over. We had a GREAT time, through all the ups and downs, and learned a lot about ourselves, each other and the world at large. We met some AMAZING people and reconnected with old friends. I am so grateful to everyone who let us crash on their couch, who suffered the company of an old married couple ;o) and who helped make this an incredibly memorable trip. [Nick Note: Everyone we met in the trip was great, from old and new friends, to just strangers who were always very friendly. People from all over the world have many more things that unite us than separate us. I know that we hear all sorts of newspaper stories about how this place or that is dangerous, or they don’t like one kind of people or another, or there is violence, or it is not the right time to go but in reality you should not fear going anywhere (for example I guess a lot of people are staying away from Nepal because they had a lot of strikes last year). In reality we had few inconveniences in the trip, never felt in danger, and got to meet a lot of different people who, like us, just want to enjoy the time they have on Earth and hope to leave a better and more peaceful world for their children.]

We head back to New Jersey today via Iceland – in the midst of the volcano erupting, so wish us luck that we make it to NJ safe and sound! (First stop: Chick-Fil-A & then the gym!) I’ll spend some time there with my best friend and her two kids before heading back to CA. Nick will soon leave for PA to see his parents before starting work in a couple weeks (Trent & Will, he can’t wait to see you guys!).

Thanks for reading along and sharing this trip with us. There are lots of photos on Flickr; if you care to wade through them, just let me know and I’ll give you the link. Hope all is well back home with everyone. Safe travels and we hope to see you soon!
