NEW YORK
Today we visited The Empire State Building, Times Square and Maddame Tussauds. We ascended to the 86th floor of the Empire State buidling for some beautiful views over Manhattan - then we walked through Times square onto Maddame Tussauds where everyone enjoyed having photos with the various celebrities.
CENTRAL PARK
After a long walk from the hotel just before we arrived at Cental Park we took up the offer of having a ride around Central Park on one of those bicycle rickshaws. We got to see a lot more than we would have if we had of walked. Central Park was very pretty where thousands of New Yorkers visit everyday. I think we take our back yards for granted as we saw many people sun baking and picnicing in the park as they do not have back yards and live in apartments. We walked through Strawberry Fields and saw the John Lennon Tribute and later the Dakota building where John Lennon was assassinated. After that we visited Carnegie Deli for lunch - you cannot believe the size of the sandwiches they serve. Of course John was able to finish this huge sandwich - we declined on
dessert though.
The next day we all started out together but after stopping at a couple of shops the boys gave up and deciced to go off on their own and leave Lorraine and I to shop by ourselves. Lorraine and I had written a list of things that we wanted to still see as it was our last day - well we found this store that had all designer brands at ridiculous prices the next time we looked it was about 3 hrs later and we were supposed to meet the boys and we hadn't even done one thing on our list. Never mind we got some good bargains and that means we will have to return to New York to complete our list. The boys were not impressed.
Time to say goodbye
Well today we leave New York and it is good timing as it has stated to pour down with rain all the umbrellas have now tripled in price. We also say goodbye to our travel buddies as we go on to Las Vegas and them to Hawaii.
LAS VEGAS
We arrived very early in Las Vegas so had to fill in
time so what do you do in Vegas you visit the Casino before breakfast and can John refuse the cocktail waitress when she offers free drinks NO. Thats what you call a Vegas breakfast. Today we visited all the major hotels and enjoying the fountain show to my favourite Andrea Bocelli song.
Unfortunately John becomes ill which finds us being told by the hotel nurse to go to the local medical centre to be treated by a doctor as she thinks it is quite serious. We spend the next day catching up on sleep hoping that John improves. A slight improvement so we venture out and book to go up the Eiffel Tour to view the lights of vegas by night. It was spectacular.
Turns out that John has had an allergic reaction to something and is taking medication to hopefully fix him up ASAP.
