Hey

Today we tried to get up early as our last day, but with both of us going to bed late, then I could hear people next door alarm go off, then maids talking in hallway... at 5:30 am and then early morning.. We ended up sleeping til noon again. I got up and started the long job of packing. Wanted to pack to separate only stuff I need for the last week of travels.

Then we went down and had lunch at Roxie’s Diner again. Then Don made the multiple trips to load all the bags in the car and I had to go downstairs and print our directions, etc.

Today we leave Vegas. It is sad to see it end. We are going to miss the constant daylight that makes us happy, the sunny and warm days and the cherished time together.... We both agreed on the drive that this is the best thing we've ever done in our lives 😊

Then we started driving and Don missed the turnoff for the right highway, so we ended up going the other way that takes us past Lake Mead and Hoover Dam - which I had wanted to see while we were in vegas anyway 😊 I took the pictures out the car window and also standing up out of the sunroof 😊 Traffic was bad so we were only driving like 5 km / hour through dam area.

Then we made the continued long trek - approx. 6.5 hours to Arizona. Traffic was heavy, then it was sooo hot and air conditioning wasn’t working (weird).

We stopped at truck stop to get gas somewhere in nowhereville. Then we go to use bathrooms and Don’s like “Oh, guy was looking at you like you were lunch”. Ick. I yelled at him and I’m like “Don’t say things like that” 😊 We bought gas, waters, snacks, etc. Tonnes of water - it’s a desert out there you know? 😊

Then stopped at mcdonald’s for dinner. Then kept driving into the night.

Along the way we hit a storm -- soo cool. Went from 40 degrees to 26 degrees in like 10 minutes, heavy clouds, smelled like rain and then the pouring down rain. It was the ONLY time Don & I have ever seen a full rainbow (both sides) and saw the end of it where it touches down. It was sooo exciting. I love rainbows and since it was touching down near us -- does that make me the pot of gold? ha ha ha

Then we hit another small town Wickenbaum and stopped for gas. Then more driving. Then more gas in Casa Grande where my aunt & uncle are. Then we finally made it to their house by approx. 10:40 pm. Yipee.

Unload the car, talk to my aunt for a bit (uncle was already in bed since he gets up at 5 am!!). Then watch some TV til 1 am as we couldn’t go to sleep as we are on vegas time where we go to bed at like 4 am...
