Entrance to the star trek experience
a little blurry....was taken after a few Romulan Ale's Ok Ladies and Gentlemen we are now decending our travel journey into the final last days of our adventure and what started out to be a quick little overview of a great vacation has turned into a Mick inspired Novelete of awe-inspiring rambling ons. I sure am glad that I took along my laptop so I could update this blog every day...ya right it has turned into hours & hours of fine tuning a great story with pictures and words after the facts. Oh well I sure hope I can preserve these ramblings on a CD that will be passed on for generations to come...LOL
Today is going to be a very relaxing and slow moving Vegas type of day because we have no real plans set in stone and are just going to "Wing-it". So to start the day off you know what time I got up and what I did until around 8am (what you havn't been paying attention????).
We headed out around 10:00 and checked out a few sores, casinos etc. and lined up at the Tix 4 Tonight little kiosk to see what shows we could take in today. It was damn cold in
the shade (about only 60degrees) so we had to take turns drinking our booze and standing in the sun. When we finally got in to buy our tickets we had decided on seeing KA a Cirque du Soleil show at the MGM Grand. The price for 2 half price tickets came to $184.20 for the 7:30 show up in the 201st row.....Damn glad that we got the cheap tickets.....better be worth it...haha.
Ok so now we have something to do tonight so what should we do this afternoon??? Lets just wander and see what we can....so came across another penny squashing machine....Yahoo!!! and even a penny collecting book...Cool now we have something to keep our 4 squashed pennies in. Then we decided get a day pass on the monorail for $9.00 each and head off to our favorite hotel in Vegas...The Las Vegas Hilton... for those non-trekkies out there this is the hotel that houses the Star Trek Experience and of course Quark's Bar & Restaurant. We sat down in the bar and ordered my usual Morn's Sampler beer special (has 5 different glasses of beer)...because I couldn't remember which flavour I liked, and Nadine ordered her usual Risa
Colada (made with coconut rum, blue Curacao & pina colada ice cream). And for lunch we dined on the delicious Hamborgers. Always enjoy returning to Quark's and were soon to remember how fast we can get pissed on the fine elixers and wonderful suroundings....haha. After lunch Nadine had a Mini Warp Core Breach (has 5 different flavoured rums, Razzmatazz and fruit juices and a chunk of dry ice...so its a steaming bowl of booze) and I had Romulan Ale. In between drinking and peeing I stopped in at the gift shop and bought a cool Klingon bobble head. Around 4pm we stopped at the gift store and I bought a couple of lego star trek toys and Nadine picked up a star trek bear (to go with her Borg bear she bought last year) & a command pin. We poured ourselves onto the monorail & staggered back to our room to change & grab a quick nap before our show tonight.
Around 6:30 we jumped on the monorail again and headed off to the MGM Grand where we played a few slots and then went to see KA. After finding our seats I headed off to get the refreshments...which
was a huge beer and a huge Pina Colada. We settled in to watch another Cirque Du Soleil show (last year we saw Zomanity) and it was really spectacular, the stage alone was worth the price of admission...it apparently cost millions of $ and rotated, raised, lowered, tilted and stood completely upright. Once again they had out done themselves and the performers, who come from all over the world, did a fantastic job. Although I enjoyed the one last year better for the high flying trapesy stuff, this one out did it for the massive engineering features.
After the show Nadine wanted to go to the Stratosphere and take in a roller coaster ride so we jumped on the monorail again (man it sure is worth the price we paid and they is hardly anybody on them...Go Figure??), and off we went. We got there around 9:30 and went to the top of the Stratosphere which is the highest point in Vegas and had the best view ever of Las Vegas. Nadine went on the "X Scream" ride first that straps you into a seat an moves you out away from the building and spins you around thousands of
feet above the city. Then next she went on the "Insanity" ride that is sort of a bob sled type of thingee that moves you out and then tilts down and slides you down the ramp to a dead stop. Out of the two rides she said that she enjoyed the first one the best.
It was getting late so we grabbed a few drinks and pizza's and headed back to the hotel room via the monorail. We dined on supper and packed it in around midnight. So as you can tell for being a pretty layed back day there is still so much stuff to do in Vegas that it keeps drawing us back year after year.
So in a brief synopsis (and I know a bunch of you jump down to the last entry for the short version..haha) today we saw KA, Star Trek thingees, and went to the Stratosphere...Ta-Da!!!
