Ok Fellow travelers here we are into Day 3 of this incredible journey...how many have I lost so far????? LOL Today our journey is going to take us to Laughlin Nevada...OOOOO...I know that you can hardly wait so grab yourself a drink and lets begin.
Today because its going to be a real busy day I woke up around 5am and threw on some pants and headed off to the casino floor to grab myself a coffee...darn hotel doesn't have a coffee machine in it...maybe next year we will pack one along..haha. Any hoo I did a quick tour of the casino and threw a few quarters into my favorite charitable organization (gotta build those new fancy smancy hotels somehow) the slot machines, grabbed a few coffees (umm wonder when it will be Nadine's turn to buy the coffee???) and headed back to the room. Jumped on the computer for a bit....the hotel has a great wireless internet service for $29.95 for 5 days and it actually works great...even faster than at home...YIPPEEE!!!!! and then its off to catch the bus to Laughlin.
Its 8:30 now and the bus driver wants his money....holy crap its gonna cost a
whole $5.00 apiece for a full day in Laughlin Nevada which is 2 hours away and it includes a lunch buffet......best damn deal so far!! Our tour guide/bus driver for this tour was fantastic...he used to be a long haul truck driver who has lived in Las Vegas all his life and had tons of interesting stories to tell who was heavy into the "alien influence" stuff". Told us about "Area 51", "Chariots of the Gods" stuff , his personal sightings of a possible UFO, stories told to him by Airforce pilots etc. etc. Also he saw the excavation sight where they discovered dinosaur bones and either helped load a gigantic vertebrae onto a truck or watched them do it
As soon as we arrived a representative from the Colorado Belle Casino came on board the bus and gave us all a Key card to put into the slot machines when we play and told us that somebody on the bus is going to win up to $500.00 if we are playing between now and 1:30pm....and also gave us our free buffet tickets. So we all ran to the closes slot machines and started plugging our $$$ into them.
After playing for awhile we went outside to look at the great view...Laughlin is located right on the Colorado river and we can see Arizona just across the river, but unfortunately no time to catch a boat to the other side so we will have to save that for the next time.
We wanted to get in on the FREE buffet so stood in line and were seated quite fast...so I decided to go first and filled my plate with mostly chineese food stuff and Nadine decided to go the Italian route with lots of pasta stuff and for desert I went for a piece of marble cake & a piece of lemon cake with lots of soft ice cream on top. Man it was one hell of a feed and I sure wished we could have smuggled out some in Nadine's purse...haha. It was the best food that we have had to date!
We returned to the slot machines and split up...I chose some quarter machine and was doing really great and decided to call it quits when I was $130.00 up so cashed it in and went over to the penny machines....ya right what the hell
can you win with a penny! Found a Wheel of Fortune one with lots of bells and whistles and pretty flashing thingees so stuck 2.00 in and was starting to win.....OOOOOO all those lights etc. and starting to win......was up to $45.00 but wanted more....down to $30.00 now so cashed out and ran to the ticket machine and pulled out my money and ran like hell....ummm maybe I was that winner that the rep. was talking about???
We hit 4 more Casinos near by , had a couple of drinks, bought some souvenier pins and a coffee mug, shot glasses and then loaded back on the bus at 4pm and headed back to Vegas....Laughlin is a really great place to visit and I think that we will be coming back again next year??? Also had a new addiction to Penny slot machines....the money lasts a hell of a lot longer!!!
Arrived back in Vegas around 6:30pm and had lots of time to do something so decided to wander the strip.....There was one hell of a storm blowing and the wind just about knocked us down so we blew into Madam Tussauds wax museum. We had coupons out of
our Entertainment book for it so got in for $24.00 instead of $48.00....there the book has finally paid off......actually so far we have saved $115.00 for a $15.00 purchase price...COOOLLLL!!!!!. We hung out with all our stars in the Museum and took lots of photos and really like this one better than the one in Victoria because you can actually touch them (as the photos show). After about an hour of hob-nobbing with the stars we forged out again into the storm. We always have a great opportunity to see something new while in Vegas as far as weather goes...last year it was a torrential rain storm and this year it was winds gusting up to 70mph.....weird but still exciting.
We grabbed something to eat and drink and returned to our room and hit the sack around 10:30...Knew we had to get up around 6am tomorrow for the Grand Canyon.
