It is my long pending dream come true!!!
I brought my parents to the USA for sight seeing.
I wanted to do it during my previous trip to the USA before wedding but could not do it.
Finally everything came together and I made them travel to USA.
I am having a real fun time with them. We are having super fun so far.
Only missing person is my brother...
I miss him so much. Wish he could also travel by taking leave from work!!!
Anyway some other time😊
The travel planning started with me and my husband, even before they reached US.
I planned of bringing them during Christmas New Year time.
I wanted them to see the Holiday excitement here.
Lot of people questioned about the weather and they got a bit scared about it initially.
But I explained them how good it is in California. (I mean socal 😉)
We already planned to be fully equipped with winter outfits so that they always feel comfortable.
We planned our trip during Christmas Holidays to Las Vegas and Grand Canyon well before and reserved
everything from Hotel to car.
Initially we planned a trip to SFO for New Year Holidays.
After some thought we cancelled it coz they would
get very tired and also we wanted to spend New Year @ Home with them.
So far it had been a great feeling of satisfaction for me.
We had already given everything in instruction to them so that they feel comfortable during their first
International flight.
We encouraged them to enquire about the free city tour of Singapore. Keeping that in mind, we booked the
connecting flight a bit late so that they could get to spend some time in Singapore and go in the tour.
They did that also very successfully with the help of a friendly Indian airport customer service executive.
Anyway, Changi airport does not need a mention of its beauty and hospitality.
Mom, felt Jet lag for a week and Dad was doing OK with disturbed sleep.
Their first venture outside was to China town @LA.
It rained the first day 😊
We got all the winter accessories for them @ China town.
The preparations for our first trip started a week before in terms of planning.
We decided to cook the food for the first one and a half days so that they might
feel the least inconvenient
in Grand Canyon because the food in Grand Canyon is not so conducive for them.
(After all it is Amma who cooked 😉)
We packed off everything from breakfast, lunch, dinner and next day’s breakfast and kept all the necessary
Kits as usual.
I got goggles for them 😉
They were ready to rock....
Appa rocked in his sun glasses, and Amma rocked in her style glasses and cool churidhar...
The D Day started off smoothly.
Our plan was to spend 2 days in GC and 3 days in Las Vegas.
The hotel prices were really really cheap in Vegas coz of Christmas.
We shared the driving between us too.
We downloaded lots of S.Ve.Sekhar comedy (my hubby's and Dad's favorite especially) and time passed by so
fast.
It kept us entertained till we reached Grand Canyon.
As we entered the GC area, we started seeing snow.
Fortunately the forecast was clear for our entire stay duration.
Amma, Appa really got excited seeing snow.
They are seeing snow for the first time!!
They wanted to touch snow...They were Happy.
We checked in without many issues and started to show them "The Grand Canyon". The first view
of Grand Canyon
would be really grand, I knew. IT would be awe inspiring for anyone...
I asked my folks to close their eyes as they slowly walked into the Yavapai point to see the Grand Canyon...
They were awe struck...
We let the sight sink in, Started photo session and spent some time there. It starts to get boring once u are past few points.
We proceeded to Hopi for sunset. We then proceeded to the IMAX Theater for the Grand Canyon movie. We
reached hotel early and slept well coz of the driving tiredness.
The next day, we drove around the entire south rim stopping at various points and enjoying the view.
I liked GC in winter.
The sky is clear, air is pure and no haze at all. I loved it more than my previous visit during spring...
Amma, Appa were busy seeing things through binoculars and capturing the image with their cam.
We omitted Helicopter tours coz all of us had motion sickness and Amma Appa were not so keen.
We were done by dusk and we started our drive towards Las Vegas, the Sin city.
Las Vegas has always been in the top of
my list of most favorite places in US that I visited so far.
This is one place where I would not get bored to visit over and over...
We drove past Hoover dam from GC.
As we were approaching Las Vegas my parents saw the first glimpse of the city lights and they were so excited to see.
We had booked in Stratosphere. We drove straight t stratosphere. We drove through the strip. The fountain show was going on in Bellagio. Dad especially got so excited about it. He liked the fountain show the most of all in Las Vegas.
We had lots of problems checking in stratosphere that night.
They gave us keys to a room where someone was already saying.
We tried to open it using the card in despair. The security personnel came and she could not figure it out.
So she used her special card to force open the door and asked me to get in to see whether it works again.
I got inside and was shocked seeing someone already in there watching TV.
It was a poor Indian guy looking at me in shock!!!
I was soooooooo embarrassed knocked the door hard and the
security personnel got very embarrassed too...
I got so angry at their carelessness!!!
We had to go 15 floors down (of course in elevators) to sort out our room allotment again.
They apologized and said they would give a free upgrade to a suite. After expressing our dissatisfaction with them, we proceeded to the new suite. Amma Appa was waiting all this time the lounge...
We slept only by 2 A.M
We got up the next day to start our long day...
We had breakfast @ Dennys. Amma Appa could manage with the bread toast and a pancake in Denny’s all the time.
Appa liked Starbucks Cafe latte very much. I guess that is the only one resembling Indian coffee to an extent.
He could manage with Denny’s coffee too...
Then started our long tour on different casinos and shows...
The highlights were of course Bellagio fountain show from Eiffel tower and Mirage volcano show.
They had an Italian Gelato @ Venetian and we went for a gondola ride just for fun with the Italian music sung by our sailor. Lunch was a Chinese buffet which they managed to eat.
Dinner was at Tamba Indian cuisine in the strip.
We
paid more money for food that night than our room rent. We paid 77$!!!
We ended the day by 11 in the night.
The next day was also well spent in the left out casinos.
I was amazed to see the rides on top of stratosphere. Wish I could ride it.
But I can’t. It is so scary.....!!!
But it was fun to watch.
My dad was almost ready to go in the ride but my mom said a strict no and she wins!! 😊
That second day was also well spent. The second day was a bit colder than the previous day.
We started from Vegas, the next day morning to reach home by late afternoon.
It was a lovely trip and we all enjoyed a lot.....
