So we were off to another state and the van was in conflict, basically the other group were heading to Jack Daniels Distillery and our group hadnt been made aware that this was an option, so it was a tense atmosphere, i didnt really want to go as it was 6 hours out of the way and after the tour we wouldnt of even be able to sample it as it was a sunday and it was a dry county, so i was not at all annoyed about the situation and tried to get everyone back to our cheerful selves, it was hard work until i asked kyle if we could stop anywhere on the way to ease it a bit and he said that we could go to Tusca loosa in Alamaba, the van cheered up and soon we were off singing sweet home Alamaba in our wonderful in tune voices. Tusca Loosa is a university town and while we were walking round in blistering heat we were able to check out the frat and sorority houses, i felt like i was in a film set. as uni or college had just started now, we were even able to witness some hazing as one of the frat had the freshers dressed up carrying dolls, i have a feeling it gets a lot worse than this. We found it very strange that frat and sority still exist basically to join you have to be a slave to the seniors for a couple of weeks to see if you get in and then carry on being one for the whole of your first year, they can ring you at 4 o clock in the morning asking for orange juice and you have to get it, Crazy. it also cost more to live in the houses but apperantly once you are in one you are sorted for life, good job and brilliant contacts- I cant see it being worth it but hey thats my opinion. We went to the college stadium and were able to sneak in through the service door to get a look at the pitch, college football is massive in the southeren states and alabama is totally crimson tide (their college team) crazy, the stadium holds something like a 100, 000 people and is sold out every match, it was also the pitch that was featured in forrest gump where he played football, after a while someone came over and told us we werent supposed to be there but our accents charmed him and we were able to stay a bit longer before heading to the college shop to buy some merchandise, we were hit with it too, Alabama fever.

Once we got back to the van we headed to Mississippi, kyle warned us that there was nothing to do in mississippi so it was going to be a chilled out night, he was wrong. we got to the campsite and put up our tents, the campsite was nearly empty and we soon discovered that we were the only campsite without a grill which was a bit of a problem as we all got was barbeque meat, so Kyle and i went off to reception to ask if we could use one of the empty sites grills and we would clean it afterwards, you think i asked him if i could kill his whole family with his consent, basically he told us no and if we werent happy we could leave, as we had nowhere to go we said that it was ok and we would sort something else for dinner, no voices were raised at all in this conversation. so we were back at the site making pasta when suddenly the sherriff pulled up asking what the problem was, we wxplained the situation and suddenly started laughing and said that the owners are a bit strange but this took the piss, they were asked to throw us out, luckily he had a word with them and we were allowed to stay. it was a random night and we left early the next morning, not one to judge on a first impression but mississippi totally failed to impress, will have to go back one day, that is if the sherriff doesnt try to throw us out again
