     • June 19-June 24 We stayed six days at Senic State Park in Minnisota. That is about an hour NW from Grand Rapids MN. Dan and I rented a two person kayak for one day but only caught more perch or was it sunfish. Anyway he was looking for bass. That is Dan's favorite fish to catch. We have seen a lot of deer along the roadside. Lots of loons on the lake. One red fox. Lots and lots of turtles. They like to deposit their eggs right next to the aspalt road. I expect it gets nice and toasty there but it seems dangerous for the turtles. [/li]
     • We took one day and hiked in the Lost Forty. It is 40 acers that was missed during the logging days because they thought it was a lake from the maps made at the time. [/li]
     • June 24 - June 26 We are now at Itasca State Park due east of Grand Rapids, MN about 2 hours. It is the first state park in MN. It is more tourist oriented. They have a lodge, inn, cabins, boat rental and two campgrounds. There is a small stream that they call the Head Waters

    By the side of the road. The turtle left before I could really get a good shot (who says that turtles are slow. Dan picked up the turtle (against my advice) and brought it back for a photo.
    of the Mississippi River. You can walk across 15 stones to get to the other side of the Mississippi.
     • 
    They have wonderful hiking trails and tons of small lakes. Dan really needs a small kayak or canoe to get out on the lakes. They have a fishing pier but it does not look like he'll catch much from there.
    Right now I am in the screened in pouch of our tent typing up this blog because they even have WI-Fi here at the campground.
