MA HOG Rally ABC picture
This HOG rally was just going to be a quick stop, I glad I decided to stay for the whole rally. This is the 8TH part of a series about the ride I took on my 2005 883 Low Harley Sportster ‘Effie’ from Kansas City to Novia Scotia and back. This was part of my vacation from 4 to 20 AUG 2006
Friday 11AUG06
I left the hotel about 8:30 Friday morning. As I was leaving the other bike comes riding up, he had already been out to the laundry mat and done the laundry. The couple was from VA and just coming back from ME.
The ride to the rally was uneventful and contained a stop at the RI line. I arrived at the MA/RI Hog rally about 1:30pm. The ABC banner was posted right outside the door and I got my picture taken right off. After registering for the rally, I checked into the hotel. Holiday Inn $89 a night. They gave me the HOG discount which had dropped the rate about $40 a night.
The booklet for the rally was complete in the information it provided. It had some runs in it that I could not resist. So I ate a hamburger at the hotel and took off on the 3 dealer loop. The route
IBE #24 Boston
Boston HD was one of the 3 dealers in the Dealers Loop that was laid out in the program guide. was great cool shady lanes the whole way. Paramount HD was the first stop. Boston HD was the second. Boston is one of the IBE cities so this worked out well. The Boston dealer had a ton of shirts. The salesman was trying to sell a VROD to this short young kid. I bought a shirt. They had some neat designs I had not seen before at other dealerships. They had a VROD tshirt those are not common.
I headed back to the hotel to check out the local vendors. They had a bunch of them here. A pinstriper, a etcher, a patch/pin guy, some jewelry stands, Blue blockers, and a guy selling this ACE polish. It appeared to work really well.
I went to Bravo Pizza to pick up my last meal of the day and begged an additional Pizza box so I could ship home the sign I had bought in NC. They were happy to give me one and the Broccoli spinach pizza I brought back to the hotel was great. I had passed on the opening night banquet. $20 a head seemed steep to me and there was a ton of stuff I needed to do. Laundry was on the list, I had brought 6 pr of socks and I was out of clean socks and my pants and sweats could use a good cleaning, along with a couple T-shirts I wanted to keep with me on the trip, so I did a load in the hotel laundry room. As I looked through the program guide I decided I wanted to stay for the whole rally. Around 2 AM I called the front desk and they extended my stay another night. I wanted to do the historic loop that included Waldens Pond and the North Bridge where the Revolutionary War started.
