Just another tree photo
A Blog from the Bog as we spend our 3rd night on Cape Cod. We walked along an old cranberry bog in a light sprinkle today. We shopped a bit in Brewster and Dennis. Saw the Sesuit Harbor where all boats must be out of the water by Nov. 1. They stack them up 3 boats high on metal racks (like car carriers) and put shrink wrap around them to winterize. We walked on the sand so Timmy could put his paws into the Atlantic Ocean, but you all know Timmy, he hates to get his paws wet. Shopkeepers are very friendly and talkative after the summer season. Some places shut down, but there is enough of a year-round population to sustain businesses. Again, we are the only RV in the campground except for some permanent rigs in a different area. Or, as Deanna called our motorhome, "your truck." We visited a great Natural History Museum which had a wonderful exhibit on Rachel Carlson. This is her centennial year and the PBS film was so well done. It focused on her awareness of pesticides in The Silent Spring and showed newsreels of children eating their lunch and being sprayed with DDT

Do we have to eat lobster again?
in a cloud over their food. We visited several art galleries, but unlike Carmel you have to get in the car. Sports continues to dominate the news as the Sox won the 1st game, the Patriots haven't lost, and Boston College is ranked #2 in the nation. (We'll be rooting for them tonight, Paul) And that segway brings me to a BIG correction in my previous blog. I stated that Rebecca's new baby was the biggest birth-weight baby in our family. I meant in her family as Emily quickly pointed out, she has had 2 babies bigger. Mea Culpa to our youngest daughter who had to carry and deliver those hefty young'ens. Dante was 9'11 and Ellyse was 9'12. Chalk it up to a Senior Moment. Tomorrow we will pull up stakes; no I mean unplug electricity & water and hit the road for Rhode Island and Conn. The leaves are hitting their peak around here now. And, we hope and pray that the fires are contained quickly. Bye for now; keep those comments & corrections comin' in. love, DWT
