The girls
Denise, Krissy, Kara, Emily, and Angela at Batemans. This year, Mark has spent almost a week a month at different courses for work which means that he is sometimes gone for a week. As you have seen from a previous blog, I am a big chicken when it comes to staying home alone here. I have no clue why I am like that, but every noise I hear means somebody is coming to get me. And if I watch CSI or Law and Order when I am home alone, I’m just up all night with the light on. Anyways, so I wasn’t in the mood to stay home alone, so I decided that I would go home for a visit. The next time we were due to be home is in August and one of my best friends, Angela, is pregnant with a little girl (she is due in May). I really wanted to be there for her baby shower and see her baby bump. So I talked to Krissy and Ang’s mom who were great and decided to have the shower when I was there. (Thank you again!!!, it means a lot to me) I found a great deal on tickets and headed home while Mark was away

Krissy, Denise, and Angela for his course.
I was a big girl and made it to the airport by myself. Ok, the bus took me, I got a bit confused trying to get to terminal four (no signs at the bus station for it, Heathrow is a mess). When I got to the gate, British Airways makes you walk down a ramp and stairs and loads you onto a bus which takes you to a plane on the runway. And they cram you on the bus, which is very uncomfortable, because when I looked right, my nose was in a man armpit, (he wasn’t having a very “sure” moment), if I looked left, I was face to face with a person who I didn’t think believed in toothpaste. Looking straight ahead was a very large chest, with LOTs of cleavage. So after the bus ride I got out with a kink in my neck from staring at the ground, we all started up the stairs to get on the plane, when a stewardess notices that the tickets are to Baltimore. They plane they were boarding us on was going to Hong Kong. Lovely. Back on the bus, to another plane. Luckily we ended up

Emily, Denise, and Kara on the right plane. It was a great flight, because it was almost empty and I was able to lie down across the middle section of the plane.
My brother was waiting at the airport for me. (my dad only found out the night before and my mom did not know I was visiting.) Pete dropped me off at The Wises’ house. It was great to be able to sit and talk with Mr. And Mrs. Wise for awhile while we waited for Denise. I wish I had more time to see them though while I was in MD. Mamma Wise had Denise’s pretty princess Calle (dog) for the day, so it was a good setup to surprise Denise. When Denise walked in the door, Calle ran to her and for a good 3-4 minutes all I could hear was Denise in the foyer, (high pictched) “oh you a good girl, you miss your mommy, oh you are a beautiful girl, momma loves you, oh my pretty little girl” Finally she walked into the kitchen. It was great to see her face when she saw me. I should have taken a picture. We stayed a bit at the Wises, talking
The Squad
Well, part of it. and eating sausage balls. I love the sausage balls mamma wise makes, yummy. Then we were off to surprise my parents. My brother told my parents that he was coming over for Chinese food, ( I had been craving American Chinese food—can you believe I can’t find the orange duck sauce over here) Denise called my mom to say she was going to be in Annapolis and she would be dropping a check off for her. Denise rang the doorbell and then we got to surprise my mom. Her face was great too. She was a bit confused and worried that something had happened. I reassured her that Mark was on a course and we were just fine.
Kara and Steve came over to my parents and we all hung out for a bit. It was great to see everybody.
The rest of the week was spent getting together with everybody; I wish I had more time to see everybody. Hopefully in August I will be able to have more time. Krissy and I met up with Ashley and Sarah, our good friends from college. Sarah’s boyfriend proposed to her weeks prior and Ashley’s son, Tristan, was just about to
At the mall
Emily, Ashley, Tristan, and Sarah have his first birthday. We had a really nice lunch catching up and then all hit the mall together. We couldn’t resist some shopping.
Angela and I decided to meet up for Pancake Day at IHOP, I was very excited about that. They were giving out free short stacks of pancakes and it would be a good chance to have one on one with Mike’s baby momma. Unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be. Maryland was hit with an ice storm. It took me over an hour in traffic to drive half a mile. There were accidents on all the bridges and they were closing the bridges. I decided to turn around and head home. A good idea, because it took my brother 5 hours to drive home from work, normally it is a 20 minute drive. Angela and I were able to meet up for lunch another day, which was good.
Angela’s baby shower was really nice. She received a lot of sweet baby things. The baby shower was held at Reynold’s Tea room in Annapolis and it was a great setting for it. I am so excited to meet the baby when she is born. Angela has been good
Tristan
What a cutie and he still likes the blanket I made for him about sending me pictures of the scans and of her belly so I won’t miss out.
Randy and I met up half way between our houses for dinner. He lives in VA. It was his birthday so it was fun to hang out with him. I think we were sitting in Chili’s for over a couple hours being full from all the food, talking, and laughing. He is so funny.
I definitely took advantage of the weak dollar and went a bit crazy with shopping. I also added a bit of weight, because I couldn’t stop eating all the food that I miss. I fit chick fillet in on the way to the airport. I still missed Wendy’s, Chipotle, California Pizza Kitchen, and countless others. Next time.
I had so much fun going out with friends and family while I was there I didn’t want to go home. The last day was beautiful weather; I went for sushi with Jarrett, Sarah, and Jeff. We then took a walk around downtown Annapolis. I took another walk with my dad. Then we were off to the airport via Chick Fillet. (Mmmm, I’m hungry just thinking about it) I didn’t’ realize they had
Emily and Tristan
He was not up for me holding him right then. a new spicy sandwich until after I ate mine. Next time.
I was sad to get on the flight; I really did not want to leave, there were more people I wanted to spend time with and see. But I missed Mark and once I was on the flight, I was ready to get home.
