Hay
Bails of hay in field outside of Dogwood, MO. July 15th, 2013. 7:57pm
On Sunday July 14th, 2013 we left our motel in West Plains, MO. @6:20am. Our destination was Sedan, KS. 293 miles. It was a very hot day for travel. Since a leak had developed in radiator, it first was thought to be due to temperature and pushing coolant out overflow tube. Leak has progressively gotten worse. I decided to put an overflow tank on the car, hoping it would solve the problem. At a gas stop in Mt Vernon, MO., a man came to look at the car. When I told him about the leak getting worse, he worked in a radiator shop and he found that the leak was running down the outside of the overflow tube. We continued on to Sedan, where we spent the night with Jim & Ruby who we've known from our Air Force days in Roswell, NM. We got there just after 5:00pm, were treated to a very nice meal & spent the evening talking .
July 15th, 2013.
Today started by having breakfast with Jim & Ruby at the Green Door Cafe in Sedan. After walking the "Yellow Brick Road", we went back
Route 66
We were on Route 66 for a short time. to their house, packed the car, said our good byes and hit the road again. Today's travel brought us to Dodge City, KS. 259 miles. The weather today was overcast, windy and cool. Had to wear long sleeves. Had to add water 4 times today, about every 70 miles. In the morning I will need to find a radiator shop, hoping they will accommodate us. We will walk down to the IHOP for supper .
