ALCAN Trip - Take Two

We made our reservations today for the ferry from Bellingham, WA to Whittier, AK. We depart from Bellingham on 7 Jun arriving in Whittier 12 Jun. This time we have reversed our route from last years attempt. By doing this we won't have any specific dates to meet in case the road washes out. This time we will be able to just sit and wait for it to open while we have a beer. Now that we have an official date, we can start refining our plans. It will be a while before there is anything additional to post.

Riding the ALCAN, 2014

I have wanted to ride the ALCAN highway for a long time. I turn 50 in 2012, so decided that would be my excuse for finally making the ride. With my wife's blessing and financial backing, I began to plan when and with who. I extended the offer to accompany me to a few close friends and co-workers. One committed, and then sold his bike (Sorry Mel, but you'll be missing a hell of a good time). Another, Mike S, jumped at the chance, and we will be doing a 6300+ mile, 21 days (or so) ride from St Louis, MO area to Alaska and back.... full info
