Over 500 years ago, Spanish conquerors stopped in Mexico where they encountered a ritual that seemed to mock the death of relatives. This is called Day of the Dead. It is celebrated in Mexico, Central America, and some parts of the United States on November 1st and 2nd.

Toward this article, my reaction was surprised because I’m use to celebrating the death of a relative at a repast after the burial. I didn’t know people continued to celebrate the death of their relatives after many years of their passing.

This connects to what I’ve learned in class because in class we learned about the Renaissance. Day of the dead and the Renaissance are similar because they both deal with the rebirth. Not only that, it also deals with culture because celebrating deaths of a relative is a cultural accounting.
