Today we decided to find a new beach to play on! We headed along the east coast this time and came across Waimanalo Bay. It was a perfect beach with plenty of space to play and also some shade for Ollie so that he didn't burn. We spent the afternoon messing around before getting bored around 4pm and driving back to Waikiki.
We had spent the last 5 nights in and as it was the weekend, we deciced to spend some money and experience Waikiki's nightlife. After dinner, we hit the Fijian duty free hard to save money and then made our way into downtown Waikiki. Mark was back to the hotel within minutes to put on some appropriate shoes so that he would be allowed in Zanzabar (our club of choice for the night!). Mark found the others in the queue and we were soon being led around to the back door. This meant we avoided the queuing but had to pay an extra $5 each. Once inside we were surrounded by 'brothers' and military personnel on leave. After being moved by bouncers twice for "standing in the way", Ollie was sent to the bar to get drinks. However,
due to stupid American drinking rules we all had to be present when purchasing alcohol.
Shortly after, Mark was thrown out for handing an empty bottle of beer to an underage girl whilst he went to the toilet. Another stupid rule! We had all been separated and since Mark was now outside with all the money, he wandered off leaving the other two with no chance of getting anymore drinks. A little while later, Mark returned to the hotel room to find Dale and Ollie who had returned to get some cash and rum. They both went out again whilst Mark went to bed and sulked! Another highly successful evening!
Needless to say, the next day was very slow. Only Dale was brave enough to venture outside whereas Mark and Ollie spent the day in bed infront of the TV. Ollie Realised that at some point during the previous night his passport, which we needed for ID, had mysteriously gone walkabout from his safe and secure pocket. A search of the room turned up nothing and the panic started to set in. After traipsing back to the club and having no luck, but being reassured that the office
opened on Monday and that I could call them, Ollie returned to the room and began some serious worrying, whilst Mark and Dale started some serious ribbing!
Sunday:
Feeling slightly more human we headed back to our favourivte beach, Waimanalo, and set about topping up our fearsome tans. On the way we found some kids playing football and stopped to watch. they must have been about 7 years old yet the half time pep talk scared us slightly. After a few hours on the beach showing off our football skills we left the beach. Clearly the football had made an impression and we were invited to a BBQ that evening by some girls on the beach. We spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing whilst Ollie went off to sort his life out.
This involved trying to find his passport amongst other things. We have had a lucky streak recently, involving free Subways, free car upgrades and other assorted small things. However the streak looked set to end with the loss of a passport. Not only was it annoying that i would have to pay for a new one, I was most annoyed about losing all the stamps I had collected over the last 9 months. So imagine my surprise when I log into my email account to find an email from a man named Aaron, telling me he thought he had my passport and could I email him!!!
Turns out he worked in the Hotel next to ours and had found the Passport. He Googled my name and found our blog and then posted a comment. The blog then notified me of this by sending an email!! The wonders of technology amaze me!!! And the luck continues. I went straight to the hotel and he was standing in the foyer and recognized me from the photo, (another amazing thing since the border police never think its me in the photo), and gave me back my Passport! Amazing.
In the evening we headed out to the BBQ and spent the evening in an awesome house overlooking Waikiki with a waterfall and Hot Tub.
What a great day.
