Hello little shrub faires and tree elves! Sorry i have been spending too much time with the hippies in Paia(the little and nearest town 7 minutes from the base). On the "Welcome to Paia" sign coming into Paia it says, and i quote, "Don't feed the Hippies." Very funny. I haven't. Scared they might bite. Apparently there is some crystal under the earth there which helps them pull themselves towards themselves or keeps them regular or something and they all flock!!! So it can be fun going in to town and watching them all strung out on something. Actually its rather sad. They're all in so much bondage. There is this one guy that has literally thick chains around is neck with locks. He talks to himself. I want to talk to him, but will pray a lot before i do.
*okay just to mention that i wrote this blog about three weeks before today and haven't piblished it til now so all dates and things add three weeks* So the last two weeks have been insanely busy!!! And lectures have been incredible!!!! The school before us came back from outreach so we had like 30 extra people
on base which meant absolute chaos and less food!! But it was cool. They were an awesome bunch and were so amped to pour into our lives which was amazing considering they were in Muslim dominated countries, eating log worms and branch beatles for 3 months! Well lectures were SWEET to say the least. First week was Holy Spirit week and this week was New hearts week(all about forgiveness and strongholds). Both speakers were prophetic and bothed prophesied over our lives which was insane as they both said pretty much the same things a week apart from each other, which was super confirmation. I could get into that more but then i'd be here for days!! Just know it was life changing-literally. God pretty much told me to get into ministry work. So it was a radically cool time, were God super opened up things that He has planned for my life, and shown me what He calls me to do, and shown me giftings i never knew i had. It was amazing. What an insane story Holy Spirit week was!!!!!!
Not too much fun stuff has happened the last few weeks as have been super busy, but do
have two stories. The first being that two weekends ago one of our staff, Sam, took Matt and I to take photos at this massive tree that has wrapped itself around this old building in the middle of this cane field, it was super dupa amazing. I used Sam's camera as she has been there before, it was so much fun and rekindled my passion for photography. I will let the pictures tell the story. Well the pictures won't actually speak you cretonous cretons, after all they are just pictures and i know nothing about anamation(other than when you draw on the sides of pages in writing pads and slightly change the stick man so that he looks like he is running or his head is getting lopped off when you flick the pages.) But it is more of a metaphor that by looking at the pictures you will be able, through visual interpretation, to "see" the "story".
And now for something completely different. I went for my first surf on the weekend with four other guys. All the spots were really crowded cause it was the first decent swell for weeks, so we found this good break no
one was surfing, so we pull off the freeway, get ready, walk through the grass, and myself and this other guy brian say to each other i bet there is a reason no one is surfing this spot. We hop accross the rocks, tailor and brian get in, john jumps in, gets hit by a little wave back onto the rocks and takes a chunk out his knee, josh and i jump in unscathed, john gets out. josh and i paddle out to brian and tailor, i look down into the water and comment how close the rocks are to the surface....we keep paddling. Josh comments that the one break is a little close to the rocks, we keep paddling. We get to the other guys, no swell, then a set comes through, i paddle for the first wave, get it, get up, look down into the water and somehow am surprised by the rocks just below the surfice, i ride the wave for four seconds, dodge a protruding rock, don't make the next section, jump off my board, keep shallow and manage to stay unscathed. I stand up i'm in about a foot of water, rocks everywhere, NO SAND,
with about a 12 wave set in front of me. So at this stage i'm unscathed, and two HOT hawaiin girls are climbing into the water with their boards over the same rocks i'm poohing in my pants over. So i get pounded, i manage to stay upright for a few waves, then i loose my footing, and the cutting starts. I can't tell you exactly when the cutting occured but what i can tell you is that on one of the waves i did a full on backward somesault over the rocks and miraculously didn't cut my head or body. All i was thinking was, "these chicks must think i'm such a rookie tourist, i hope they saw me actually catch that wave." Anyway, i look down and my toe is bleeding pretty badly. So its at this stage i decide going back out is not a good idea, i turn and start walking back over the rocks. This is when i notice my other big toe is amazingly sore but there is no blood, i find a safe rock and inspect the damage. The amazing pain was me somewhere in the barragement of waves standing on a sea
urchin, i had about ten needles in two toes, spectacular!!!!!! I walk back to the car along the freeway, burning feet, get to the car and do better inspection: one cut on top of right big toe(very bloody), one deep cut under right foot, sea urchin pines deeply stuck in left big and second toe, deep cut under left foot, and cut wrist. But more importantly i got a wave and saved the board i borrowed from all injury. However my veins near the sea urchin were going purple and my foot was swelling. The other guys got out when they saw me get summersaulted over the devil rocks. Everyone got one cut each on getting out, and josh stood on a sea urchin. I nearly fainted, so sat down, had water, and then got in the bakkie. we started driving home and i felt better. i started praying over my foot and joshes and within minutes the veins went back to normal and the swelling stopped. I'm pretty sure it was a miracle. I soaked all my wounds in hydrogen peroxide as is customary here. I am fine now, its just a little sore walking.
Well thats all
for now folks! I enjoy your comments that you leave so keep on keeping on!!! OOH OOH. Last sunday night they went on a town run, i stayed behind to do my journal, and they saw PARIS HILTON, like the real deal. She was in the book store we always hang out in which is a lot like Exclusive books in the Pavilion, coffee shop and all. Anyway she was just haning out, and one of the guys was in the same book shelf as her, well they weren't in the book shelf but they reading stuff off the same book shelf. I wish i had been there to tell her the rest of the world thinks she the stupidest girl on earth, and then get my photo with her!
Okay i'm out. Love ya all!!! Feel free to tell me what's going on in your lives!
PS you should see what these americans do with peanut butter, it is UNBELIEVABLE. I can almost guarentee there is more money assigened annually to researching new stuff to do with peanut butter than on weapons of mass destruction in the US budget.
