Hello All
So i know you are all chomping your finger nails in anticipation of my next travel blog, to hear of my heroic adventures in the land of preservative full/precooked/prepacked/presugared/presyruped/carbohydrated/calorie infused peanut butter everything. Just thought i'd let you know i've only put on 200 pounds which is equal to the total mass of all rock mined on earth since....... the beginning. Just kidding, i don't think i've put on any weight. Not sure about the 200 pounds being equal to the total mass of all rock mined on earth since....... the beginning, will look into it though, actually probably won't.
Anyway will try keep this short as to keep you interested. So this last week has been pretty hectic with busyness(not business). So didn't really get off base as much. So the first exciting thing i did last week was go to a real live public laundromat with big silver washers and dryers, it was super exciting. Well not really, it was just kinda cool, it was almost like being in the movies, except without the big screen and popcorn and comfy chairs and surround sound...HOWEVER it was almost like being in a movie...except without the
cameras and sound guys and director and lighting and the gaffer. So it was more just like my new life in America slash Hawaii.
The next thing of interest to the general public, and to anyone else who finds this story interesting and is general or public, is the following.....so let me set the scene, its 3:30pm, work duty time (which means maintenance for me), myself and this other guy who we call matt(his real name is matt) have to change the humungous tyre(all the tyres on the van are humungous not just the one we were changing-that just wouldn't make sence you silly billies) on one of the giant vans. I'm being all rugged and manly, wheel spanner in hand, crouched down low puting my back into tightning the bolts....ALL OF A SUDDEN FOM NOWHERE the wheel spanner slips and wham, my hand that is fulling clentched in a fist holding onto the spanner connects me full on square in the jaw....I wasn't even angry, i just chipped my tooth......which made me angry. I have never been punched so hard in my life never mind in the face. Nor have i ever chipped a tooth. I have however
changed wheels before, on my car and also once the tyre of some girls' car at the beach, we didn't get their numbers(they didn't ask)(neither did we....just to clear that up). In summarry-i punched myself in the face.....NEXT!!!!
On the weekend, saturday to be specific, we went to some place on the island about 45 minutes away. It's the super Americanised hotel/golf corse/villa part of "town" ie tourist central. Of course only being on the island for three weeks we don't consider ourselves tourists. Anyway so we are going there to jump off a giant cliff into the ocean. We arrive...it is beautiful, total volcanic rock everywhere, occassional dried beach "forest", clear blue seas. Very coowell. So we find this place, its pretty windy and the swell was getting pretty big every once in a while but it was still good for jumping. There were like three places to jump, i jumped off the two "smaller" ones, some of the guys jumped off the higher one, i didn't, due to not really wanting too. It wasn't as high as last week's highest one, but still pretty high.
So more importantly last week's lectures. Let me just start by
saying, "WOW!" The heading for the week was Basic Christianity. After the previous weeks super Holy Spirit moving time we were expecting this particular topic to be interesting but just come cool knowledge that is important but not really that impactual on our faith...BOY GEEZ were we wrong. We covered The Authority of the Bible, God, Jesus, The Trinity and Salvation. It was incredible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All topics were awesome, but the section on God blew me away!!!!!! We discussed God's infiniteness and how huge God really is, amongst other things. I've always known He was these things but never actually tried to contemplate what this means. God is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH bigger than you can even begin to imagine. It just blew me away! We look at God's greatness by saying He created the sea and mountains, the earth and sun and moon, and birds and us and our bodies and how they work, when infact the earth, in fact the galaxy we are in is a microdot in the universe. There are a hundred million galaxies that we know of in our universe. He made all of it, it is HUGE beyond comprehension of our minds, yet He is bigger than
that, you know being Infinite and all. We are tiny, God is huge, in fact, infinite. Yet he cares for us. Anyway i'm not gonna try get you to get what i did, cause i'm battling to grasp it myself, but know that i changed from thinking of God as "What He has done for me and others i know", to "Who He Is". My worship went from, "Thank you for what you have done" to "You are incredible, and amazing and awesome, i have no words i just want to stand here in silence." I have no more to say about that for now.
I also realised that more knowledge of the Bible and "Christian stuff" doesn't(and shouldn't) just lead to more knowledge and info, but should lead to WORSHIP. So often we blow off knowledge saying that we don't need to study the Bible because Christianity is a relatioship with Jesus and not about knowing stuff, when we should be saying, "I love God i want to find out more about Him so I'll look in the Bible because that is where He speaks to us." The Bible is AMAZING!!!! It reveals God.
