Hawaii: Spectacular beauty and vibrant history

Three days till we fly to Hawaii! On Jan 12th we fly from Portland (PDX) to Hilo, Hawaii and we can't wait to get there. Warm whether and sunshine, Yea!! (we hope) Today I-5 has been closed due to flooding at Chehalis and Olympia so we may have to change our plans to have David come down from W Seattle and drive us to the airport on Monday. But he says, if I-5 clears up he'll come down on Sunday.- Keep your fingers crossed. Meanwhile we are in the packing stage - making lists of things to remember to take and being careful not to "overpack". We will be gone for 3 weeks and need to be able to carry our own luggage. I'm hoping we can live in our bathing suits most of the time. Hooray!
It had just started raining again when John took this picture of me standing on our new deck in Longview. In 24 hours we fly out to Hilo Hawaii. Who Ha! David will be arriving later today (Sun Jan 11th) from W Seattle and drive us to PDX at 6:00 am. Our flight leaves at 8:50 am. Up Up and away! Have a good week David, while staying at our house and working for ciber studios. Love, Mom
