It’s 5:30 AM again and this time I have to get up and get ready. We have to leave by 6:30 -7:00 for Stuttgart. It’s normally a 2 hour drive from Wangen up the autobahn. Maria prepared breakfast for us and she made us soft boiled eggs, they were soo good. We ate, said our goodbyes and took off. Whenever we travel in Europe, we hardly ever travel the autobahn. And when we have, we’ve never had a car that could keep up with the traffic flow. That all changed when Kirsten pulled up on the autobahn this morning. Kirsten’s eyes had a look like I’ve never seen, however I did enjoy it. She said in a low voice let’s see what this baby will do. She red lined all 5 gears and settled in on the sixth gear at over 200+KPH. And that’s the last time I looked, I was crawling under my seat looking for any and all cushions to pack around me.
Don’t worry, if we didn’t make it back, Bea will be in charge and Brian you will have to fill in for me on weekends. I can see Brian now praying, please bring them home. We
made it to Stuttgart in record time; I won’t tell how long it took because Mandy and Hedi would worry. We pulled into the car rental return, Kirsten steps out of the car tosses the keys to the attendant and says nice ride. I’m talking 007, you know what I mean. I’m crawling out of the passenger side of the car with my credit card in hand willing to pay anything.
We gather our bags and head into the airport. We check in and head toward security. Everything’s going good Kirsten and I haven’t beeped. The bags are coming out of the x-ray machine and all of the sudden they grab Kirsten’s carryon bag and start going through it. I’m thinking it’s the cheese, maybe the wine what; what could it be. Everyone is looking at me, I’m pointing at Kirsten, it’s her bag not mine. Take her not me. Turns out it’s our toiletry stuff Kirsten was supposed to take it out of the bag. Oh Yeah, I’m feeling a little embarrassed.
We get to the gate and everything is going perfect. We get on the plane were in 1C & 1E seats. We’ve had a great meal and
the service has been perfect.
I guess it’s about time to start closing down this vacation. We’ll be landing in 30 minutes. My eyes are swelling up with tears because I’ve had a perfect vacation.
I want to thank Dana, Eve and Kathy for holding down the fort while Kirsten has been away. Mandy & Brian, we’ll be down soon to hang out with you and the kids. Carl missed you, looking forward to seeing you. Lori and Sam can’t wait till you can travel with us. Drew hurry up graduate so you can come along too. Bea thanks for taking care of our house, and Francis thank you for looking after the rest of the houses. For everyone I missed, we will be having dinner parties to tell more stories.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention one more thing. Whenever Kirsten and I travel we always play a game called “Pudding”. Well I have to say Kirsten is the queen of the Pudding game on this trip. She smoked me every day except one and I barely won that day.
We hope you’ve enjoyed the blog it has been fun for us.
