I skipped the dive yesterday simply because I was a wuzz: I didn’t want to drive and I didn’t want the cold. Steve said to me: I bet You the Girlz are going to find 8 dworfs and you are going to miss it. And gave me the “Kovacs” look. I couldn’t wait till they get out of the water to find out what they saw: Almost exactly that: Not 8 but 6, plus 2 of my Nodosas between other interesting critters.
Ah? Foggies? Yeah Froggies every where. Where? Every where!!!!
Ahhrrr I couldn’t wait to go find them the next day. I made sure I got all the directions right. Got to the bridge way before time with all my equipment double checked and got in the water confident I was going to find them. Easy: Directions were perfect. And there they were not 6 but 8 little dworfies: 2 big pregnant females and the males pushing them up the water column. And I photographed something never seen before: 4 males pushing one female up so high that it was so easy to get black background. 2 lil males on each side of her because her belly was
so pregnant.
My shot is perfectly sharp and totally in focus. I am a rock star!!!!. And I am sending the raw file to probe it. Steve is going to wish he skipped work today. : )
Nahhhh I wish. Viz was 10 to 15 and decreasing and I was cold after the first hour. I forgot the directions to the ones by the log…What was it? 10 ft East of it? Or south of it? By a funky shell with hydroids growing off it. Yeah right…they all look the same. Zig-Zag. Go up and down. Do radio search. Where is my phone? Right. I can’t call Deb from underwater. Damn. I’m blind and can’t see past 3 ft. I have to get really close. Maybe my mask is fogging. Maybe is easier to find the ones that Linda marked. I moved on. I found the blue sponge and Lindas markers. But where are the froggies? Froooogiiiiiiessss? Whereeeeee areeeee Youuuuuuuu? Haha Im cold. Already? I still have 2000 psi maybe I still have a chance. Then something was watching me I turned around and I see a couple of squids doing the mating dance. Omg. Wow.
Time to practice. Forget about the froggies. Open the strobes, f8 no f13. No I will start at f16. See how it goes. One of them is opening the tentacles and the other one is approaching trying to get in there. I am tapping my trigger button to keep the focus distance. I am ready. Bring it on! And then Bum. Dan V. attacks with his camera and scares them away from each other. I wanted to assassinate him!!! Today is not my lucky day. The squids didn’t leave they stayed around me. Close for me to enjoy them. I waited and waited for over an hour. They got around each other but didn’t mate. Then is when I saw the froggies on my way out with 50 psi: 8 dworfies!!! in the same spot with purplish background posing for me . Not no really. I saw NONE L
Maybe the girlz feel sorry for and take me by the had and show me tomorrow? Yes?
