Arrived safe and sound with no major traumas or delays. Long days journey into the evening warmth of Fort Myers, Florida to receive an absolutely fantastic welcome from Pauline and Nigel. What a great sign it was that welcomed me..... large green and beautifully decorated! Thank you both, such an awesome welcome.

Day one was terrific starting with an incredible American breakfast at Marti's. Then on to Sanibel island and to the Ding Darling Nature Reserve. I was bowled over, so many incredible birds, my new binoculars (thank you Ally, Alice and Flo!) were put to good use: pelicans, herons, roseate spoonbills, leaping fish, ospreys and so much more. BUT also not one but two alligators. A rare sight now at the reserve so seeing two was amazing. They are fearsome creatures close up and boy, were we close! We certainly needed the great cocktails at the West Wind bar and the 'build your own cheeseburger' meal that followed!

The day was rounded off with an educational activity (!!)........... I learnt how to play Mexican Train Dominoes....... Not very well though as I'm currently in third and last position. But I definitely intend to improve my standing in round two this evening!,

The tiredness thing has hit me today so a quieter day catching up in the sun and at the local cafe with wifi.

Hope you like the photos!

So pleased to hear you arrived safe & sound Pam and what a day you seem to have had away from dreary, dark England! I am suitably jealous. Beautiful pictures too! Look forward to hearing more....

Settling in
Hi, glad to see you've arrived safely. It all looks great, especially the diner. I could live without the alligator but it's good to see the local wildlife. Look forward to the next installment, Brenda xx

Fantastic to see you right in the swing so soon. I am thinking of you and trust that all the pressure dropped away once you were airborn. From a wet and miserable Peasenhall comes all love and hugs.XXX
