Waving goodbye to Washington

We love Washington so were glad to have a few more hours at the National Mall before getting on the Greyhound. The sun was beaming bright and early so we went out and joined it 😊

Our first stop was at the World War II Memorial where there were War veterans visiting the Memorial which made it all more real and moving.

The Reflection Pool made a lovely peaceful walk down to Lincoln’s Memorial which wasn’t as big as it seems in the movies but still very impressive. He was Colgate white! Everything is in line at the Mall, from the Lincoln Memorial all the way down past the Monument to the Capitol Building so we could see everything from there.

On our way to Martin Luther King Jr’s Memorial we passed the Korean War Memorial which was eerie but amazing! The pictures don’t do the statues of the soldiers in action justice, they were very realistic.

Congratulations to Annie’s Auntie Cathrine on her new baby girl! We cannot wait to meet her 😊

Catch you all in Canada!

It is easy to take liberty for granted, when you have never had it taken from you. Freedom is never free. "But the freedom that they fought for, and the country grand they wrought for is their monument to-day." (Thomas Dunn)
