Kaylene has been talking about wanting to go to school in Colorado for years --- even though we've never been there. Soooo, Fall Break spelled Rocky Mountain Road Trip for us. We checked out campuses in Colorado Springs, Boulder and Fort Collins. If I were the 20-something, it'd sooooo be Boulder, but Kaylene is more level-headed and mature than I am, so she settled on CSU in Fort Collins --- a... Read Full Entry

Okay, so Joe had to pee, and we were in the middle of nowhere. It was just the three of us, the sun and this. I'm envious that men can stand while, um, answering nature's call.

I don't know why I didn't take too many pictures of Boulder, but I loved the town. I wouldn't want to live there now, but as a college student I would have absolutely loved it. The houses are adorable, as is the campus. And, yes, we saw a few cloudy-eyed students roaming the streets. We ate lunch at a place called The Sink, and I bet it's one heck of a party place at night.

is actually a reservoir, and it's HUGE. We drove alongside it forever. It's really weird because there is so much water (it's Colorado's largest lake) and yet it is surrounded by desert. After seeing so much vegetation it's odd to see water surrounded by barren rock.

I think it was called Lake City, or something like that. Don't the leaves look like feathers?

I'd run and roll around here forever if I could.

Crede

Around 300 people live here year round. Beautiful cabins are built nearby and house the summer folk. Apparently, this is THE place to be in the summer time, but most avoid it during the brutal winter months.

Kaylene did not want to spend the night here. We almost missed the lodge where we stayed. She said we were going to end up starring in a snuff film because it's towns like this where the city folk always get slaughtered while sleeping, or taking night-time strolls. She watches too much TV.

I think not. We slept perfectly fine, AND enjoyed a brisk, morning walk. I couldn't believe there was frost on the car window --- again something I'm no longer used to. And, I can't believe I'm typing this, but I sorta miss it sometimes.

I have no idea where in Colorado we are here, but it's a place we stopped to snack while heading home.

We stopped and picnicked here at the bottom of Pike's Peak. It's one of my favorite places we stopped.
