We started the day in the fertile river valley of Grand Junction green with fruit trees and vineyards. We picked up some Palisade peaches for lunch before getting back on the road. We enjoyed the drive through the mountain pass to Leadville (elevation 10,152’), crossing the Continental divide one more time, and then winding down through Glenwood Canyon. We ate lunch at the headwaters of the Arkansas and finally drove on to Colorado Springs. We stopped in Manitou to fill our bottles with natural soda water, and drove through Garden of the Godx on our way to our friends’ house. While here in the Springs we have had wonderful meals with friends, hiked Pulpit Rock, visited the Air Force Academy and took in the beautiful scenery and fresh mountain air.
