Day 27 started early, up at 6:45am after only just over 3 hrs sleep! once again, not pretty!
We stopped off at one more spot after leaving the lodge to take some pics at a lookout.
Sampson made another appearance, getting his photo taken for his Adventures of Sampson.
Sampson has also made a new friend on the bus, his name is Jock and he is a Tiger from Vegas (one of the boys, Nathan won him on some kiddy game). They are the new mascots of Contiki Grand Southern 2009.
We stopped off at Kayenta, Arizona for some lunch and to buy some more sunscreen (we are all going through it very quickly here!!). Jumped back on the bus to head to Monument Valley. we were doing a tour here, guided by a lovely Native Indian. We travelled though areas where things such as Lavern and Shirley, Wild Wild Wesst, Back tot the future 3 and many John Wayne movies were shot. We even stopped at John Waynes tree. Apparently this was his favourite spot in the valley to have his picture taken. At the end we also paid $2 to get a photo on a horse
with a very picturesque backdrop. On the way back to the carpark we also got sung 3 songs to us by our tour guide.
We jumped back on the bus bound for Cortez. About 10minutes down the road though, Christina, our contiki tour guide got Jerry (our 'rainbow' bus driver) to stop the bus for a surprise photo opportunity. We stopped what looked to be in the middle of nowhere only to be told that it was the point in Forest Gump where he decided to stop running. Pretty Cool. Christina watched the road for us while we did our fake running photos and we jumped back on the bus, again bound for Cortez, Colorado.
Because of where we stopped we then watched Forrest Gump on DVD for the next 2 or so hours only to have it cut off about 10minutes before the end because we had arrived at our destination.
So in just one day we had crossed over 3 states, Arizona, Utah and into Colorado.
We got here about 6:30 and found we had free wireless (woooo) and kinda just filled in time for an hour as we had an included dinner at a Mexican Restaurant next
door called The Fiesta Mexicana. It was ok, kinda average but hey, we didnt have to pa for it so it was all good.
After this some people walked down to Walmart (this, no joke, was the most exciting thing in the town, kinda sad!).
So we decided it was time to do washing, we got mine, laurens and marnees all in one washing machine and one dryer (hey, we are budget remember!) then updated the blogs and finally put a few piictures on facebook so y'all make sure you check them out!
We watched sister act on telly then headed to bed after that, i think about 12:30.
