Day 26 started not too early. The others were doing the helicopter flight over the Grand Canyon, as i already did that 2 and abit weeks ago i gave it a miss, got up at 8:50, got ready and made my way to meet one of the other girls, Kate, who was also not doing it.
We caught the bus and got off at the Yavapai Observation Station to take some photos and jumped back n the next bus bound for Maswick Lodge. Got off for brekkie (which was free!), it consisted of Scrambled eggs, bacon, an english muffin and something that the Americans do is fry up small pieces of potatoe and put it with it.
We stayed on for a while in the lodge using their free wireless (or trying to!) then made our way back to the rooms, not without stopping off at the local grocery store first.
They sell premixed drinks here, no kidding, for $1.49 a bottle! im talking like cruisers, smirnoffs etc. So we gathered a few and walked back to the rooms. The others had got back early so they had already left for the hike so Kate and i jumped
back on the bus to the Bright Angel Tailhead to do a small hike. It was so freaking hot that we decided not to go to far down into the canyon as we'd only have to climb it back up again!
Funny thing i saw: There are so many squirrels here, there was a girl sitting with a lil Chihuahua on the fence of the canyon (not very intelligent to begin with) one of the squirrels ran up to it, scared the crap outta the dog, luckily it feel the footpath side of the fence otherwise that dig would have been gone.
So anyway, we walked down the path a little bt and decided it'd be abit of fun to yell something out. Not being very original we yelled out “hellllllooooo” the echo was so cool but it was also followed by an “oiiiiiiiiiiii” from the bottom.
We decided that was enough exercise so jumped back on the bus to the rooms and did some sunbaking, we're in the middle of the desert, why not right?! While sunbaking we came across 3 Elk right near our rooms (if y'all dont know what an elk is, its kinda like a dear)
We then had showers and headed down to meet the group as we were catching a bus out to Hopi Point to watch the sunset. Id love to say it was the best id ever seen but to be honest, Ive seen better at home. Yeh, it was cool seeing the sun set on the Grand Canyon but Ive still seen better.
We jumped back on the bus to Maswick lodge again for dinner then went back to the rooms for some drinks and card games. What wasn't going to be a late night ended up being one, We got to bed by about 3:30am.
