Day 1
This weekend Eric and I took a long three day weekend to go see the fam. We had to get up at 3:30 to make our plane by 6:00am. We arrived in Colorado and waited for Adam to pick us up at the airport. As we were waiting we went outside to see the Rocky Mountains. This was my first time in Colorado and I have never seen any Mountain range like the Rockies. What was so surprising to me was how big the mountains were compared to the rest of the area. It was very flat besides the Mountains. We arrived in Denver and were starving so we immediately wanted to grab something to eat. From Adams apartment we walked down to the “mall street” where it was only pedestrian walking besides the buses that could go across. The food we found was delicious and everything that we wanted. After lunch it was time to go to Boulder and meet up with the rest of Eric’s family. When we first arrived at boulder Adam gave us a little tour around the city. Eric and I saw the hill, which is the college community, and then downtown Boulder. It
was all so beautiful! That night we ate at a new restaurant called Salt then went out for a cocktail. Although the beer selection in Colorado is no where near the beer selection in Portland they have amazing cocktails. We drank a few cocktails then headed home to Monica’s house to sleep.
Day 2
We woke up ready for the day. The last nights sleep was not the best considering we had to share a couch but we make it. The event for the day was to rent bikes then get back in time for the football game. Our bike path consisted of going around campus then around the city a little. On our way back we wanted to get a close up of the flat irons. We rode up this very very large hill that never seemed to end. Although I do somewhat ride bikes I was no where near prepared for this kind of ride. As all of Eric’s family made it to the top I was lagging behind. Thank goodness Eric didn’t mind taking it slow with me. I did make it to the top and the view was amazing. We got some really great pics then
we were ready for the ride down. On the way down we were really cruising. I don’t think I have ever gone that fast on a bike before. When we got back I was ready to rest up for the night.
That night we didn’t have tickets to the big football game so we decided to party hop. Eric and I were not ready for the drinking that this night involved but we pushed on through anyway. We had a great time going to a couple different parties then out to the bars.
Day 3
We woke up not feeling to well and again not getting a great night of sleep. We were ready to head back to Portland but our plane didn’t leave until 6:00. We spent the day back in Denver with Adam exploring the huge park.
