Verne and Zeus have bonded!
We arrived in L.A after a great flight. It was so good to see everyone again. The weather wonderful and warm. We immediately had two practice runs of walking Zeus up the hill and back home - just a very short distance, but a beginning. Zues seems to have bonded with Verne. We're off on our adventure to Palm Desert.

Greetings from Palm Desert California! It's Thanksgiving Day!!! We've had our turkey dinner and pumpkin pie, along with a bottle of David's fine wine - outdoors on the patio with a lovely gas fire glowing in our outdoor fireplace. So..... I'm sorry to tell all our friends and family...that we are "suffering" with 85 degree weather, sunburned, waterlogged, wined out, over- fed...and the list goes on. Only trouble is that Verne has a "cough" we are trying to doctor up - tomorrow we'll try Marilyn's hot Brandy and brown sugar!

Our trip here yesterday, in two vehicles, was interesting...along the freeway at 10 miles per hour....sometimes 5 miles per hour....bumper to bumper......but after 4 hours we arrived safely with no wrong turns. And it was worth it. Club Intrawest, Palm Desert really is a paradise. Verne & I have

our own adjoining suite with a big comfy bed.....and very west coast decor. Today we enjoyed a quiet day - I was in the pool (there are 3) at 8:30 this morning all by myself - it was wonderful. No one to see me do my own version of aqua fit class! The desert air is amazing...but it sure can cool down at night. Today while we sat on the patio reading....a road runner came by to visit...check out my photo. The road runner is a type of bird that can run up to 17 miles per hour...eats rattlesnakes up to two feet long...I know you'll love this info....and can fly only short distances preferring to run. There seems to be an abundance of them around...as well as humming birds... darting quickly from flower to flower. The architecture, and landscaping here in the area is very impressive...manicurred lawns and boulevards as green as green gets - cactus plants, flowering bushes rocks all placed strategically to make a wonderful effect. At the entrance of each private Country Club estate are waterfalls, gardens, elaborate gates....seems like every estate/hotel/country club has its own golf club. We can see the greens of two different

Tomorrow we head out at 7:45 a.m.....yes, we will get up....as we are doing a "hummer adventure" of the San Andreas Fault as well as the Joshua Tree National Park. Then tomorrow is also "black Friday".........the sales are on with people already lining up tonight wanting to be the first into their favourite store in the morning. Black Friday is the day the "before Christmas sales" begin and the merchants want to make sure they turn a profit. So tomorrow afternoon Maria, Tianna and I will travel 1/2 hour to a big outlet mall to get in on the sales! Thats all for tonight....here it is on 9:45 and everyone around here is asleep....must be the air - or the beds!!!!

Thank you Linda for the nice words for my newsletter. I just wanted to let you know I'm so jealous of your Six Weeks in Paradise, although the rattlesnake thing is not for me! The view from my patio door was not nearly as beautiful as yours - we woke up to snow this morning, it is mostly gone now but it was a bit of a reality check. Catch you later
