The Iron Door saloon, established 1852 Woke up early this morning and we all made breakfast and coffee. We went to have showers and get ready then cleaned up our mess and learned how to pack our tents, which we would have to do most mornings. Soon after we were ready to go, everyone jumped into the van and we were off to our next stop, Yosemite National Park. On the way we stopped off at a famous saloon called "Iron Door" which was established in 1852. We walked inside to find hundreds of dollar bills pinned to the roof which was a strange sight. The idea was to get $1, the guy behind the bar would give you a pin then you throw the bill into the ceiling. Easy enough, Dave did it first try, mine on the other hand taken a few tries. My $1 was torn and there was no way I was getting it into the roof, I’d throw it up and it would hit other $1 bills down, I was making money. Finally Dave took it off me and did it almost straight away, he asked for a free beer at the counter and they gave him one! We hung around a

So many $1 notes on the ceiling! little longer before some of the girls went to get ice-cream and then we boarded the van and moved on.
About an hour later we arrived at Tuolumne Grove Trailhead and went for a short walk to check out some sequoia trees, some of the tallest trees in the world. We walked until we came across a massive tree which the walking path goes through like a tunnel, we each got a photo of the massive tree and keep moving as we are a little short of time. Next we saw another giant sequoia tree which has fallen over and its roots exposed. It's been dead lying here a while and is hollow through the middle, Lucy decides, after some persuasion by the rest of us, to crawl through to the other side, getting covered in dirt in the process. We start to head back to the van and head for the campsite when soon after we made another stop. We come straight out of a tunnel in the mountain to 'Valley Portal", an amazing valley on one side of the road, we got some awesome photos and moved on.
We got to the campsite, set up our

Large sequoia tree with the hiking track going through it tents and start preparing dinner. Jon had split us up into groups and made a daily chores roster for us to do. I was with Elaine and we were cleaning the dishes. After dinner we did so and returned to the campsite and each of us spoke more of ourselves while everyone asked questions to get to know each other better. We then had a meeting (or 'pow wow' as Jon liked to call them) and Jon went through what we were doing tomorrow, a big hike. Only a few of us were keen to do the entire half dome hike, where as everyone else decided on the short trip. Jon gave us a map and told us we needed lots of water, we'd buy some tomorrow, then meet again for dinner in town. Most of our group had an early night after that, but Dave, Jon and I went to the pub down the road and met other trek groups to have some drinks. We got absolutely smashed, drinking most of the night, we were kicked out of the pub when it closed and then started to chat to these guys sitting by the road who then gave us
