Hi gang
Wow what a day. It seems that today has been more like a da and a half because it was so busy!! But what a fantastic day we had.
I started my day visiting this most A-M-A-Z-I-N-G school which is like a "practice school"attached to the University of Southern California Channel Isles. I spent several enlightening hours looking at this wonderfully bi-lingual school and checking out the school environment including their Pre-school facility.
What can I say?? I really enjoyed looking around and getting lots of ideas. Their "Home Ec"unit is attached to the Music section and they share a facility which they call a Diner. They are looking at changing the cafeteria food and so much more. They are also teaching the students bi-lingually which means they run a 50/50 program which changes regularly to ensure that the students are learning all subjects in Both Languages (Spanish and English).....I really learnt a lot.
I then went to see the El Centrito facility which was really interesting too in a much different sense. The students are Pre-school and have a 10-15 min session with their parents and then the parents go off to their classroom for English subjects (they are ESL - English as a Second Language) and then the students are undertaking their language based program.
I also went to another facility - quite interesting.
We also checked out the Camarillo (pronounced Cam-a-reo) Outlet Malls. WOW!!!!! Great shopping - looking for a bargain? Trust me this is just the PLACE to go in So-Cal (Southern California!)
And what was Mark up to?
He visited the Dump, had a look at the Property Development in Santa Paula and met with a range of people including the Building and Planning units, the Fire Chief etc.,
Ok - so no photos today (no time) - as we were really busy.
At 5.00pm we attended a really nice presentation at the Council Chambers with the Mayor and Councillors of Santa Paula. These people are so generous and giving.
Tomorrow we head over to Santa Clarita to stay with Ken. Many thanks to Wally and Elizabeth and the Staff and Dignitaries of Santa Paula. Without your help we would not have enjoyed our time here half as much.
Cheers
The Pitts

Mr Mulligan
Hi Guys, Bob and I just got back from our trip to Mareeba after a great reception from Mick Borzi and a meeting with the Mba Historical Society. Met up with many people who are really intense about Mulligan and I have been given a renewed burst of energy to get this thing rolling. Spoke to PAt Morrish about it on Monday morning. Great to hear that you are having a good trip. We had 4 inches of rain on Sunday and a monsoonal trough is currently hovering over Cooktown. (I think they are going to name the next cyclone after Col Burns) Cyclone Col doesn't sound very good though does it? Send another note later. Luv Loretta
