San Francisco to Santa Cruz

We are wearing the head bands they gave us as a gift
Well today started off quite emotionally, with a sad goodbye "gathering" in one of the rooms where we presented Priska, the greatest tour leader ever with a framed photograph of the group and the crazy Japs read us out a message thanking us for being kind and including them in everything even though they couldn't speak much english. Apparently the 30 second speech took them about 2 hours to translate into perfect english! We were quite a close group. Fortunately for me, 4 girls were joining me on another week's tour starting later today.

So then after breakfast we got in the car together as a group for the last time. We headed to the Golden Gate Bridge again, this time to walk over it. Then we drove to the 7 sisters - a group of houses that are famous from various movies & TV shows like "Mrs Doubtfire" and "Full House". The first week's tour ended at the end of the "hippy" section of San Francisco - sorry forgot the name - where the hippy movement started. 5 of us said goodbye to our old group and hello to the new group complete with new tour guide.

This group consisted of 2 germans from the previous week, the 2 brits from the previous week, 2 new germans, a new swiss girl, a new kiwi girl and myself. The tour guide, Aaron was American. So this group was a little smaller than the other one meaning we had a little more room in the van.

We took a drive up to Twin Peaks where we should have been able to get a great view of San Francisco but unfortunately the weather was still not very nice so it was too foggy to see much. Then we drove through the part of San Francisco that makes San Francisco the famous Rainbow city! 80% homosexual. Eye opener.

The destination for the night was Santa Cruz, a relatively short drive (especially compared with all days from the previous week's tour) from San Francisco. We watched some surfers for a little while but I was a little disappointed having come from a major surf town in Australia. There weren't many waves but it was nice to see some surfing for the first time in almost 2 years. That night we walked along this carnival type thing where we rode the oldest wooden roller coaster in the world. It was actually quite smooth I was surprised.
