Solvang is a small town in Santa Barbara County, North of Los Angeles. It was founded in 1911 on 9,000 acres land by a group of Danish educators to serve the Danes in the East coast. Most of the buildings follow traditional German style. Although Solvang may seem like a Danish village, there are very few Danish people live in Solvang nowadays. The city is home to some first-rate bakeries, restaurants, and merchants offering a taste of Denmark in California.

During my visit to Solvang, I stayed in the Solvang Inn and Cottage and had complimentary breakfast at the Olsen’s Danish Village Bakery accross from the hotel. Took a quiet stroll in the morning, browsed shops and enjoyed the unique building design located here. Nice !!!
