Union Square which is close to us has four hearts as public art - very interesting.
I visited Muir Woods yesterday, about 45 minutes north of San Francisco - a large protected plantation of Coastal Red Woods - one of the most magnificent sites to behold- some very special photos included with the blog- We also traveled around San Francisco on a double Decker red bus and saw the sites in the town - very interesting history and very steep roads- traveled on a cable car- and of course seen the golden gate bridge- it is surprisingly cold in San Francisco.

Today was almost as good - we went to Golden Gate park which included a Japanese gardens, Botanical gardens and the California Academy of Science- all very interesting and worthwhile places to visit. This evening for tea I had Fried Calamari for starters, Chicken pot pie for mains, washed down by a pint of Sierra pale ale and followed by a San Francisco Chocolate brownie with ice cream for desert- some meal.

Tomorrow we are off to Portland in Oregon by car and it will take us two days - we stop at a town called Eureka tomorrow night and Medford on Tuesday night- will keep you posted with short summaries every few days.
