Hey!
After coming back from New York, school went very quickly - a lot reading, learning and tea in short amount of time! I even spent much of last Thursday reading in front of a fire in a food court on campus - what fun!
On the day before Valentine's Day, I received a beautiful card from Warwick - very unexpected since we haven't celebrated Valentine's Day since the February before we started dating! Even more unexpected was the dozen red roses I received on the morning of Valentine's Day - what a man!
Valentine's Day was fun as I went down to 3rd St Promenade in the morning to the Santa Monica Farmers Market. I just wandered the around and bought some lovely food like dried apples, purple potatoes, "Lemon Zing" pistachios from the Santa Barbara Pistachio Company (YUM) and some garlic curd.
I then picked up some presents from Barnes and Noble, including one for me - the Santa Monica Farmers Market cookbook!
Robin met me down in Santa Monica, so we checked out the pier and the promenade and then headed back to my house for a study night - it was actually
really fun, but not entirely productive!
Sunday was more productive in the morning, so as a reward, I went to dinner and Movies with Lisa and Robin in Westwood. After going up to Lisa's place, we went to California Pizza Kitchen for dinner (with Raspberry Margarita's). We initially couldn't agree on a movie and settled on watching Frost/Nixon but on the way to the cinema we saw that the Crest cinema was showing Slumdog Millionaire - so we saw that. It was a really good movie and a really fun night!
Robin came over on Monday for study lunch, which was far more productive but was followed by a big walk down to Santa Monica. We even heard (and then saw) a tree fall down on top of two cars despite only very light winds! Then we watched most of the sunset and I walked home.
School started again on Tuesday and it was back to serious study - so much so that my back was killing. So on Wednesday morning I booked an hour long massage in Santa Monica - but near the end I extended it to an hour and a half!
So my
day started well, but unfortunately when I tried to withdraw money, the ATM crashed part way through and ate my card. What a nightmare - so yeah, left school a bit later and spent a lot of money calling the bank and my darling fiance who really helped sort it out for me!
Luckily the night ended well - I met up with Pravin in Santa Monica. We walked to the pier, watched the sunset and then went to Johnny Rockets for dinner (yummy shakes). We also wandered around Barnes and Noble and generally enjoyed catching up and hanging out.
Thursday wasn't much better trying to sort stuff out with my ATM card, but after exciting classes I decided to have a break. I went to see "Some Like It Hot" at Aero for it's 50th Anniversary screening - it was hilarious and is now on my favourite movies list! It was fun watching a movie in an old-style movie theatre with popcorn and soda. Then after the show, four of the cast members talked about their experiences making the movie, so I stayed for a little of that.
All in all a very up and down
week.
