Hey everyone,
Well it's been a while since I wrote a blog...and I have a good reason. I'm working!!! Lots has happened since last time...for one, I finally got on board the Disney Magic and had training for my first two weeks which was fun. It was great hanging out with everyone from traditions. We had numerous ship tours, safety training, and security training.
When we got on board I was really excited and took heaps of photos of all the cool stuff. Katrina and I will be working in the Oceaneer Club and Oceaneer Lab. The Stack is for the older people. There is also Ocean Quest for 11 - 13 year olds. They are really cool areas, and have different ship-related themes which is awesome. The kids love it!
The ship is huge and I managed to get lost heaps. After our normal HR training, we had training with a Youth Activities Manager. It was so much fun. We were introduced to the different youth programs and were told how things were run.
We started working the next week and were scheduled on with another counselor so we could see how to do things. It
was a bit daunting, but I slowly got used to everything.
I have been off the ship in Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta so far, but am hoping that this week I can get off in Cabo San Lucas which is beautiful. They are such nice ports, and have some fun things to buy. I've got too many souvenirs already, and lots of postcards! I went to a restaurant called Senor Frogs in Mazatlan which was so funny...they have so many people that serve you and you get your photo taken, a balloon hat made for you and it's just silly! I also rode in an open-buggy style taxi, I nearly died! Oh, and the Mexicans don't indicate either...hmm!
I also got off in Puerto Vallarta twice now; once to Wal-Mart to buy some new thongs...my black ones died, and have some nice Giselle Bundchen ones! I have also been to the Christal Palace Resort. Mujde (new hire) and I went swimming in the ocean, and literally nearly died from being caught in a rip. It was rather scary. The waves were massive and kept sucking us back in when we tried to get out the water. Finally, we
escaped and then went in the pool instead. It was very relaxing. I bought a Corona hat off a beach-vender along with a cool necklace. I haggled too! He he.
I then used the wireless internet at the resort...free!
(Fast forward a week!!)
I finally got off the ship in Cabo San Lucas which was (to say the least) AWESOME! It is such a beautiful port...the best port by far. We tender in Cabo so had to take a little boat ashore etc. There are lots of little stalls and tourist things to do and see. I bought lots of souveniers which are totally cool...hehe. I really wanted to take a Jet Ski out but didn't have time, and they didn't have a spare one at the time anyway so wasn't a big deal. I'll go jet skiing in Castaway Cay instead I think. Mujde and I took lots and lots of photos...well I took the photos 'cos she let me use her awesome D40 Nikon camera! I really want one, and think I'll get one 'cos they take way better photos than my digi! Anyway, the weather was beautiful, the sun was shining and I was
wearing my cool Corona hat. I got a tile painted for me and it was really pretty. We were offered a good deal on a water taxi for the next trip ashore as well but I don't know if I'll get a chance to get off the ship again in Cabo. We then headed back to the ship 'cos I had to start work...urgh!
Enjoy the photos (when they're finally up...silly internet connection!)
love,
Jen xo
