“Aruba, Jamaica, ooh I wanna take her to Bermuda, Bahamas, come on pretty mama…” We decided to get off the ship in a group today; Crystal, Gemma, Lisa, Fabrice, Jennie, Fernanda and myself. After some haggling we got on a mini bus which was going to take us around the island and show us some sights. I took some photos as we drove through the town, and we headed to the rock formation which Aruba is famous for. It was very cool, and the souvenir shop had this gorgeous donkey out the back. He he. I patted it! I bought a really nice photo book of Aruba which shows some beautiful beach views. It is so nice there. The water is crystal clear and the sand is really white. Aruba had some lovely buildings, along with ... read more
Well… what a Panama I’ve been through…literally. I had been told about it by Mum and could not wait to go through the canal and see what Mum had seen on her own cruise. I was still asleep when we went under the Bridge of America (I believe it’s called!), but some other crew members got photos so it’s all good! It’s just a bridge anyway! He he. So anyway, I was so excited when I woke up and went to grab some breakfast. I was in the lab for the morning but was allowed to go up to the Captain’s balcony to take photos. They opened it up for crew members for the whole day which was pretty cool. Was a great view of the first gate, and the ships that had already been through. ... read more
Toni and I decided to get off the ship early in the morning because we had docked rather early. When we got off the ship, it was raining but I didn’t really care. It was refreshing to be off the ship so early. We didn’t start back until about 2pm which was awesome. We went to have some food before getting off the ship. As soon as we got through the terminal we were confronted by a huge group of taxi drivers wanting us to take their taxis...rather expensive taxis if I don’t mind saying! He he. Anyway, we haggled a bit, and then saw Sharon had got off the ship too so she joined us. She haggled her way to a bargain taxi ride around the city to see the sights which we were happy ... read more
Hi guys... I just realised that you don't really have any idea about what the ship looks like....up close and personal. I.e. in the depths of the massive steel beast! HE HE. So I have made this blog as a tribute to the Disney Magic and all it's beauty and majesty! Enjoy ladies and gents. love jay xoxoxo... read more
Well well well......I am writing this while the Disney Magic is docked in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. We have officially begun our "transit" across to Port Canaveral, Florida where the Disney ships normally dock. On the transit our ports of call include Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta (note: Mazatlan has been ommitted), Acapulco, Panama Canal, Cartagena (Columbia), Aruba ("Jamaica..ooh I wanna take her"), Castaway Cay and Port Canaveral. I am sooooo excited because Mum has spoken about Panama Canal before and how awesome it is so I can't wait. We even get scheduled time off to view the crossing through the canal...how awesome is that! Either way; today I got off the ship and did a spot of shopping (Calvin Klein perfume, Guess bag, Calvin Klein polo top), and then went for a late lunch with Fabrice ... read more
Hey hey, I thought I would dedicate a blog to Cabo San Lucas...officially my favourite Port of Call on the Disney Magic's Mexican Riviera run. Yay! If you get the chance in your life to visit Cabo San Lucas...DO IT! It is the most beautiful city and deserves to have lots and lots of visitors. I have decided to take a week long holiday in Cabo San Lucas at some point in my life so I can see it properly. It is truly awesome. Beautiful beaches, hospitable Mexicans, and happy people walking around saying "Ola" to random strangers (OK! That was me doing that...). Either way, it is amazing, so here are some photos of Cabo San Lucas that I feel, show off its best assets...and yes! I am in some of the photos, but I ... read more
Hey everyone, Well it's been a while since I wrote a blog...and I have a good reason. I'm working!!! Lots has happened since last time...for one, I finally got on board the Disney Magic and had training for my first two weeks which was fun. It was great hanging out with everyone from traditions. We had numerous ship tours, safety training, and security training. When we got on board I was really excited and took heaps of photos of all the cool stuff. Katrina and I will be working in the Oceaneer Club and Oceaneer Lab. The Stack is for the older people. There is also Ocean Quest for 11 - 13 year olds. They are really cool areas, and have different ship-related themes which is awesome. The kids love it! The ship is huge and ... read more
Hey guys... well it's been quite a few days (or weeks) since I have put up a post and in that time a lot of exciting, not to mention AWESOME, things have happened. To start with, the flight over was long (to say the least) and I barely slept. However, I was next to this nice OZ couple so that was good. By the way, Melbourne duty free is so cool. Anyway, after the 13.5hour flight to LAX, California I was rather buggered, and then got straight on another flight (United Airlines) to Orlando, Florida. I then got on a Disney Cruise Line bus to the All Star Sports Resort which is located in the Walt Disney World Resort, Florida. Totally awesome by the way. The whole Walt Disney World is over a huge amount of ... read more
Yay! There is an official date for my departure from Adelaide, Australia. THE 7TH OF JULY, 2008 I currently have a mixture of emotions: - 1. excitement 2. nervous (not so much!) 3. "oh man!" -ness! 4. ecstatic 5. scared (a bit!) 6. in awe... That's about it, but still... Basically, I can't wait...will be interesting to see what happens and who I meet...but still a bit daunting! I'm sure I'll adapt quite well though. Sorry, there is no picture for this blog!!! Anyway, blog to you soon, J... read more
Hey everyone This is officially my first TravelBlog, and I welcome everyone who is reading it! As you have already read...I am heading off to work on board Disney Cruise Line. Disney Cruise Line is based out of Orlando, Florida and sets sail from Port Canaveral. At the end of July/start of August, I will be leaving cosy little Adelaide and flying to Orlando...via somewhere (!) and having 3 days of 'Traditions', i.e. orientation. Will be staying in a Walt Disney Hotel for the few nights, and then travel to either the Disney Magic or Disney Wonder. I am on a 6-month contract, and work for 18 weeks with 6 weeks off. Disney Cruise Line travel throughout the Caribbean (Bahamas), and are also currently sailing the Mexican Riviera, which I will hopefully catch the end of. ... read more
