We are leaving on March 1st for a quick trip to Southern California-Vancouver to LAX,-We arrive too late for transport to Santa Catalina so will stay on the Queen Mary on Sat nite , then helicopter over to Santa Catalina on Sunday morning (sounds decadent but there was a package special) We will stay on Santa Catalina Sunday night and then return to Long Beach late on Monday. Will fly home to SSI on Tuesday.This is the last flight of our Air Canada winter get away pass.Will provide more details later.

Arrived back from LA sans luggage on the 4th- Catalina was fun. Everything is concentrated in Avalon -about 2000 people now (and 20,000 in summer) We hiked up to backcountry-quite a climb and did tourist stuff. No private cars on the Island-residents all drive golf carts. Helicopter over was fun.

We live on Saltspring Island in British Columbia,Canada and are usually here from late fall until the end of May. In the summer we can be found at West Hawk Lake near Lake of the Woods in Manitoba's Whiteshell Provincial Park which is 45 km west of Kenora,Ontario. We try to do active holidays that require training in advance of the trip. Staying moderately fit seems to be easier if you are preparing for a specific objective such as hiking the West Coast Trail etc. We are not beach/resort people.
