A lot has happened since our last update when we were leaving California heading for Arizona.

Our first stop was Yuma where we stayed with Dan and Buddie....they were great hosts...showed us old YUMA plus we learned a new card game called "UP AND DOWN THE RIVER"....Dwight loved the game because as luck would have it he was the big winner...about $3.72!!!! Can't wait to introduce it to our Chicagoland card playing friends.

Then we headed for Tubac, AZ where we stayed with good friends from Chicagoland. Dick and Jennifer. They had a dinner party almost every night and showed us some great houses so guess what....Tubac is now on our short list!!!

From Tubac we stayed at a Robson Active Adult Community called Quail Creek in Green Valley which is about 20 miles south of Tucson...and guess what...we loved it, so it was added to our short list!!! What made it really enjoyable was that we spent a great day with Sears friends Eddie and Lorel Kelson who showed us several sights including old Tombstone. Probably the highlight was Don King and Bill Harrison along with their wives joined us for HAPPY TIME (we no longer call it happy hour because it usally lasts longer than an hour!!!). It was great fun reminiscing about the good old days at Sears.

We liked Quail Creek so much that we decided to stay a few extra days and were lucky enough to stay at a lovely Casita.

One of the highlights of our Tucson visit was meeting up with our good Swedish friends from our Singapore days...Gulbritt and Sven whom we had not seen in over 20 years!!! What a small world we live in.

in Phoenix area we visited with Pat and Steve Floyd who live in Sun City West. They took us on a tour of their community and also showed us Sun City Grand which we really liked, and feel it warrants a second look. So guess that puts it on our short list????

We also stayed at a couple Trilogy Active Adult Communities near Phoenix but they didn't make the short list!!!

We are now in a town called Indio which is in the Palm Springs Valley where we have rented a gorgeous house for the month of March. Joan is so excited because she was really getting tired of living out of a suitcase.

So if you are tired of winter, let us know because the house has 5 bedrooms so I am sure we can find an empty bed...if not we also have two blow up mattresses and sleeping bags and the house has 3200 sq ft so there is lots of floor space!!!

Also we just rented an apartment in Warrenville, a Chicago suburb near Cantigny golf course where we plan to work at least one more season...

All is well and Life is good but as you can see our short list isn't much of a short list so the quest continues!!!

Stay Tuned

March in the Desert
Dear Joanie and Dwight, Sounds like you are going to search until you are so confused you just light somewhere. I know we said we likely would stop by in March but that is now definitely off the table. Just too many places (Chicago, Rochester, Toronto, Montana, Los Angeles before the end of the month) and too much to do. Not complaining though as it is all good. Love, Marion and Jack

D629 buyers
Glad to know you met Sears friends, Ed Kelson, Don King, & Bill Harrison and had a great time. It was already 40 years ago when I worked with them as a resident buyer in Sears Osaka Office. They were great comunicaters and gave me clearcut instruction whenever I came up with some problems. Time flies but your blog remided me of the good old days. Ken Deguchi
