Left Kingman early and headed towards Las Vegas .After two hours driving on cruise control I was in good time ,At this point I arrived at the Hoover dam
Hoover Dam is a testimony to a country's ability to construct monolithic projects in the midst of adverse conditions. Built during the Depression; thousands of men and their families came to Black Canyon to tame the Colorado River. It took less than five years, in a harsh and barren land, to build the largest dam of its time. Now, years later, Hoover Dam still stands as a world-renowned structure. The Dam is a National Historic Landmark and has been rated by the American Society of Civil Engineers as one of America's Seven Modern Civil Engineering Wonders
It is a enormous structure ,when you first arrive it doesn’t come across as vast but that's because of location of the view point. it was extremely crowded with tourists and I had to park in the car park .spent about an hour there and then headed on to Las Vegas
I arrived in Vegas at 13-00 so didn't have time to explore the casinos because of the car having to be
back by 14-00 and the drop-off point was miles away from the airport .Managed to get the shuttle train to airport, only to find the queue to check in had about 800 people all wanting to travel American Airlines .Apparently all the AA flights of the previous day head been cancelled because of fog. The most annoying thing in theses circumstances is getting information .I still had to buy a ticket, after hunting around and asking several people I got the ticket for San Francisco and then had this miles long queue to contend with ,time was ticking by, at 13-20 having queued for ages found out I needn't have queued but nobody told you that .Still had to go through security, the flight was at 14-30.The Yanks are paranoid about security so it takes forever. getting worried about making the flight but at 14 10 we were checking on to the plane .Stress could well have done without and it was supposedly only an hours flight .
When I bought the ticket I was not told that it was going to Burbank first so what was to only an hours flight turned into 2-1/2hour trip. Was an uneventful flight .American
Airlines don't actually fly into san Francisco but into Oakland which is on another Island about 50klms away hence the shuttle bus cost $30 .Took about 45mins ,luckly I was the 2nd drop off ,again now weary ,had quick meal went to bed
