So I see that my last entry was in October. Wow.
Quick updates from there before I get to the present. I'll make this quick.
I went to Mexico with a group of friends that are turning out to be my "group" (unfortunately they're spread all throughout Arizona, so it makes consistent hanging out a little difficult). Mexico was an absolute blast! We went to Rocky Point, which is essentially Arizona's Tijuana. Point being - we just drank and spent time on the beach (which was, MAYBE, 100 feet from our room at the resort). It was fantastic.
Um, I'm still working at Sunflower Market, not so much the campus coffee shop. I quit because, well, to put it lightly, the owner and manager are two of the most unintelligent people I've ever met. Ever. So I really just could not deal with it any more. I mean, we all know how I deal with ignorance and stupidity, right? Well, there was just too much at that job. But I am working at Sunflower 40 hours as CASHIER now. Yea, I know - I'm going places. I'll be wanting "Shelton '44" bumper stickers made soon.
Friends are

Our view. Gross, right? still pretty amazing. I've met a whole brand new set of people. I'll let you know about a few of them:
Maddy: My absolutely stellar roommate
Doug: My roommate who is hilarious, but breathes marijuana
Claire: You all know Claire. However, I don't see her too much because of conflicting schedules. Kind of sad.
Matt: My "best friend" from Arizona. Again, in unfortunate news, he moved to Utah for the semester to snowboard for the season. Awesome.
Danielle: Part of Matt's "group" (the Mexico group) and also his ex-girlfriend. She's very wonderful. She lives in Fountain Hills (outside of Phoenix), though.
Jason: Matt's roommate when he was living here. Jason and I are consistently hanging out more and more. Good guy.
Benjamin: Matt's older brother. He also lives with Jason.
James: Part of that group I've discussed. He's an RA for one of the dorms here.
Gillian: She was once a customer at the coffee shop, now a pretty solid friend. Guys, she belongs in Sebastopol. Trust me.
Ryan: Good guy.
Erica: Lives with Ryan's girlfriend. She's pretty neat. One of Maddy's old dorm mates
Catherine: Very exceptional gal. I think could sum her up pretty well.
Jess: One
of Claire's roommates. Crazy, crazy, crazy bitch. Too much crazy to comprehend. It's on the scale of Einstein trying to explain the dimension of time: it's on a level that is nearly impossible to fully comprehend because our brains have NEVER thought like that. It's just not possible. Anyway. She's crazy. She's a bitch.
Megan: Claire's other roommate. Less crazy. Less bitchy. Just kind of sad. We all know that story. Shut it.
In summation, these people are pretty amazing, except Jess. She's a crazy. The only sad thing is that not all of them are friends with one another. So it makes mass group "hang outs" rather difficult. That's one thing I miss about high school. If we were hanging out or going to do something, we'd call EVERYONE that ANYONE knew. And we'd all meet up and do whatever it was that we're doing. But now there's this barrier we all put up. One that seems to say, "I don't REALLY know this person, so I don't REALLY think I could have fun with them". Kind of sad. Oh well.
Okay - current. My Valentine's Day was absolutely amazing. I went on a hike with the
aforementioned stellar roommate, Maddy. It was a killer hike that was pretty steep and the local fauna was gorgeous. We had to turn back, though, because Maddy has granny joints. They were hurting. Then about an hour after getting back from the hike (12 or 1) I opened up a bottle of wine and began the night. The plan was to drink prior to the Streetlight Manifesto concert and then enjoy and dance the hell out of it. So I started. I rode my bike over to Jason's house where the drinking continued. We all walked over to the show, and like I said, enjoyed and danced the hell out of it. Came back, drank more, relaxed, and fell asleep. Pretty solid night.
I'm going on a hike again on Saturday with a few more people. This time we'll be drinking. I'm really excited about that. It's kind of like when Gabe and I went drunk hiking in Bryce Canyon (it was astonishing). Anyway. Yea.
It's still kind of cold here. I cannot wait for the Spring time to kick in here. Spring time here is akin to Sebastopol's Summer. Stoked.
I'm joining the Tucson Ultimate Frisbee
League. I cannot tell you how amped I am for that. I bought shiny new futbol cleats and everything. I'm going to tear the place apart. And no, I'm clearly not competitive. Doug's going to join it with me, and we're going to be on the same team, and it's going to be amazing.
I've been reading a lot more. Well, "more" meaning "more than I used to". I just finished a book entitled,
How To Think About God which, to say the least, was heavy. It's a book by this guy Alder who claims that he could argue the existence of "God" or a "supreme being" based off of rational thought alone. And I'll give it to him, after the 130 pages of prepping the argument and then 15 of the actual argument itself, it was pretty sound. Sound in the way it was presented, rather.
I've began trying to learn Hindi. KIND OF. I've been writing down Hindi characters on occasion. And I haven't done it for at least a month.
I'm trying to grow a "beard". Now, I put "beard" in quotation marks because it's not wanting to grow on my face at all.
My neck is becoming that of a bear. A very, very hairless bear. I'm just going to see who's more stubborn, me or my "beard". I'm guessing my "beard" will win out in the end. But I'm going to wait a month or so. And yes, I know it looks terrible. I don't care.
Pretty sure that sums it up.
Oh. School's pretty solid and I have yet to hear back from UCSB or UCSC yet. That's in a month or so. Kind of getting anxious about that. It'll all work out.
Sorry it took so long for me to update. I miss you all and want each and every one of you to know how important you are in my life and how much I love you. It's on the same scale of time as a dimension. We discussed this earlier.
Aloha,
Daniel
