Some Rough Terrain

We have worked our way from Carlsbad Caverns to Phoenix, stopping in Las Cruces for a lovely meeting with the Zeitlin/Kelter family. Some thrilling moments: The Macdonald Observatory last week, the Living Desert Museum, and hearing a little Teirstein music on National Public Radio in Las Cruces. At White Sands we waded through sand dunes and even sledded down a few. Sadly, in Arizona we began to realize that our dog Jenny is fatally ill. The vets here in Phoenix did an ultrasound and found a tumor near her heart, so we will face some difficult decisions ahead. We are with good friends here, Uriel Grunfeld and Moshe and Pam, who have put us up while we rush the dog here and there. We may have to postpone our Mexico trip, now ticketed for March 24th. Meantime Gabe Warshaw flies in tomorrow from NYC to join us for a week. We will find activities in and around the Phoenix area until we can get tests back and evaluate how to proceed with Jenny.

Loving you Teirsteins Bigtime
Hey Andy, Olga, Max, Zoya and Jenny, So wonderful to hear from you this morning. I'm just about to take my walk on Mountain Road and will think of you.. Great that Gabe is flying out to be with you for a week. This is the first I've received your travel blog, so keep them coming. So sad about Jenny. Anna Rose told me on Friday and I've already started thinking about that sweet dog/person that she is and just wishing her and you lots of love on her journey as well. Life is full of difficult terrains and our job is to navigate them with as much wisdom as we can filter in and a loving heart. My loving heart is with you all. Wish I were there too. Love Livia
