Waking up on the beach
No wonder I was fricken cold, my sleeping bag was halfway down my legs! After waking up on the beach with a wicked hangover (just me, not anybody else) we set out on our next really looooooooonnnnnnnnnnggggggg drive. Along the way we stopped for lunch along Route 66 (America's first paved highway) at a tiny town called Selligman. Apparently it was meant to be a ghost town but this one guy loved it too much he decided to keep it going, now its just a tourist attraction. By this point I really wasn't feeling good and to make matters worse my nifty digital camera decided to stop working. So borrowed photos from other people.
Anyway, our destination was the Grand Canyon. After setting up camp quite quickly we headed to the canyon and hiked about a mile down. It was not too hard going down but quite difficult when we decided to turn round & go back up. But well worth it, we just made it in time for sunset and that was AMAZING.
The campsite we were staying at just happened to have Trek America (a rival company of Suntrek) groups there too so a couple of us decided to do a nudie run (well only rob did it nudie) through their
Burger joint in Selligman
This really weird guy owned it & did really weird things to make you laugh. campsite to wake them up at like 10pm. Seriously though, who's sleeping at 10pm?? We'd only just started drinking then! Priska (our tour guide) made us some "tea" she called it, I can't remember what the German word for it is, but it was yummy. And not at all like tea - quite alcoholic! We were fairly early to bed that night because we'd planned on getting up early for the sunrise. No shower tonight either - you had to pay for it!
