Hi all

Most of you know by now that we have a dog who has adopted us! Maverick is a 9 month old long haired pure-bred German Shepherd puppy that we got from a rescue. He spent the first 7 months of his life doing precisely what he wanted when he wanted - he was left outside and was not trained to do anything! We have had him a month now and before he came to us he had never been walked on a lead, taken to a park or experienced anything of city life! He didn't respond to his name (which was Moon!) and didn't know sit, or any commands as he's never been taught. The biggest issue we have is that he's not been socialised with other dogs so he doesn't know how to deal with them and is consequently quite nervous, which leads to him barking at them. Again he is better than he was a month ago, but patience is a virtue!

He's hard-going sometimes as he's also a bit rebellious (being a teenager!), but we have made progress in the short time we've had him and he is slowly learning who's boss! You can tell from this description why we named him Maverick! He does have a lovely temperament, so once we get through this stage it should hopefully be plain sailing!!

Anyway, here are some pics of the 'problem child'!

More soon!
Love
Dave & Ginnie
