Girls rule, Boys drool!
We have the thumbs up and the boys are holding up #2 because they are clearly 2nd to us! We stomped them at Hand & Foot! We had such a wonderful time with our friends Dan, Linda and their son, Brian. It was a short but very fun visit. We learned a new card game and met some new friends who were also staying with them, Gary and Martha. I learned that Gary is responsible for teaching Linda how to fish. Now she can't get enough of the pike up in Montana. Bob and I plan to take full advantage of that experience and elleviate Seely Montana of some Pike ourselves this Summer! So, anyway, after a couple practice runs and playing as individuals we played Hand and Foot two nights in a row girls vs. guys. We wiped the floor with the boys! I seem to remember that last year we managed to do the same thing at sequence...
Bob and I took our first trip to Mexico while we were in Yuma. I have had a chipped tooth since September that I had to get fixed, and after all we had heard about Algodones, we decided to give it a try. We got a really good recommendation for a dentist, so we made appointments, grabbed our passports and crossed the border. The dintist experience was
Don, Darlene, Me, Bob
We had a great visit with Bob's Aunt and Uncle last week. It was sure great catching up with them and seeing their beautiful new motor home! ok. I got a temporary crown put on during this first visit so I can say "fish" or "few" without creating a gush of air through the hole, not to meantion being able to smile without feeling seriously self conscious. I have to say though that I was not at all impressed or enamored with the Mexican "market" or whatever they call it. The sidewalks were tunnels of merchendise and there were people coming at us from all directions wanting us to buy from them. It was total sensory overload and I couldn't get out of there soon enough. We had to go back another day to get the permanent crown put on. The extent of our 2nd visit was - dentist, two shrimp taco's for Bob, and in line to go home. Although I am happy with the dentistry, the Mexican way of marketing is seriously flawed and it wouldn't hurt my feelings to never go back.
We left Yuma, our friends, and Mexico behind yesterday and came to Florence, AZ. We found a park called Desert Gardens and it's just lovely. It has a bunch of amenities that I personally plan to take full advantage of while we
This was near Pickle Post
The view here was great. We will be hiking in this area in the next couple of days are here... There are no trains, we're way back off any main road, close to town and shopping, and no street lamps outside our bedroom window! I'm hoping that we will stay here another week, but we'll see!
Today we did some exploring in the area to see what we can do to stay busy. Found a couple of hikes that we will take into the hills - Pickle Post and Boyce Thompson Arboretum. I'm looking forward to the Arboretum. It looks really interesting. I'm sure there are more, we just need to do a little more exploring.
The dog and cat both are still doing well. They like all the space that this park gives us. Being next to foliage gives Lucy all sorts of hunting ground, so she is in heaven. Allie loves all the smells and critters running around on the walking trails. She doesn't realize that we are just getting her strength up for hiking in the hills... with the saddle bags... she is NOT going to be a happy dog!
So here we go on another adventure. I will try to keep you all updated!
