4/10/2010-4/13/2010: Two long travel days fighting the wind all the way. First night - The Elk's Lodge in Needles, California. Second night - The Elk's Lodge in Visalia, California. The wind continued with rain, lightening, and thunder added to the mix so we waited out the storm by staying a second night in Visalia. Wind much better and no rain when we drove on to Red Bluff on the 13th.

4/13/2010-4/26/2010: Red Bluff, California: Settled in at Durango RV Resort for a couple of weeks with friends Fred & Lani. The first weekend we were in RB was rodeo weekend so we walked downtown and watched the parade. Quite a looong parade, too. One of the great things about Durango RV Resort is that it's easy walking to downtown and RB has a great downtown with fun shops. The second weekend we attended a civil war re-enactment which was great fun. Two big camps were set up and a fierce battle was waged with the Confederates slowly pushing the Union soldiers back until victory was declared. Lots of powder rifles firing. Several very LOUD canons. Smoke in the air. Cries of the wounded and dying. Very well done and quite entertaining. In between these two events we had good visits with our friends and several happy hours :-}

4/26/2010-4/30/2010: Eugene, Oregon: Continued north on I-5 to Eugene where we spent a couple of days with friends Roy & Cheryl at Deerwood RV Resort. Beautiful rv park but we're in Oregon now so it rained continuously. We spent one day checking out a few places that do rv remodel. We're looking at replacing our flooring (carpet/tile) in the near future. Spent the second day shopping - love Oregon's no sales tax! Our drive up the Columbia Gorge was uneventful and we got great gas mileage...had a 30-40 mph tailwind the whole way. Barely needed the gas pedal! We stopped at LePage Park east of Rufus for the night, a beautiful spot at the confluence of the John Day and Columbia rivers. It was great to be in a quiet, scenic setting. Reminded us why we love state parks so much and that we need to make more of an effort to get out of rv resorts every now and then. We rolled on in to Walla Walla on Friday, where we settled in for a month.
