July 29, 2011 SEWARD TO HOUSTON, AK.
Today’s drive was very relaxed so we were able to enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way and were fortunate to have another good weather day for traveling. One of our stops was at a place where we would like to have parked our trailer for two or three days, Summit Lake Lodge and RV Park. The Lodge and adjacent Bar are beautiful log buildings with exquisitely carved doors. As we drove along the lake the water was so still you could see full reflections of the surrounding mountains in the lake. A log bench is located in the grounds of Summit Lake Lodge at the end of the lake. This was a perfectly peaceful place just to sit and enjoy your surroundings. The RV park was on the left side of the lake.
The entrance to our park for tonight was marked by a giant ice-cream cone (another picture for the picture scavenger hunt)!! It was a lovely evening where we could “circle our wagons” and enjoy a wonderful potluck dinner together and just sit around and visit with our newfound friends.
