We took a little side road trip to Hatcher Pass, a mountain pass through the southwest part of the Talkeetna Mountains near Palmer. We decided to hike the Gold Mint Trail, which winds through the alpine meadows with stunning mountains surrounding you. The Gold Mint Trail follows the Little Susitna River 8 miles to its glacial source in the beautiful Mint Glacier Valley. We hiked about 8 miles roundtrip, however due to time, still getting an amazing view of the snowcapped mountains in the background as you can see from the photos.

It is the start of the wildflower season here so we passed some lupine flowers and daisies. We also learned of a flower called the chocolate lily, which is known for it's dark color. We met some nice hikers along the way and walked back with them. It was a great day in Hatcher Pass and we look forward to exploring this area some more!
