Hey all.... we're safe and sound in Ketchikan, AK, and will be here for about a week-long hiatus. Here's the photographs and route map we promised a few weeks ago to compliment the journal entry we posted from Gustavus. Enjoy, and stay tuned for more pictures and journals in the next few days!
Self-constructed bear pole
There weren't many trees on this river outwash for us to hang our bear bag, so we got a little creative and built our very own bear pole.

Jeff carefully pulls the boat out of the rocks as we launch from Bartlett Cove into Glacier Bay on the afternoon high tide.
Bergy Bit!
We had a "small" iceberg show up on the beach at our camp near the McBride Glacier during the night.
Hiking on the alluvial fan of the Riggs Glacier
Note the sleeveless top: even next to the glacier it was nice and warm!
4th of July Camp on Rowlee Pt.
A perfect tent site: the rocks drop off straight to the water just on the opposite side of the tent.

I don't know what had happened to all the other times you wrote, but I am SOOOO happy to join you now:) I love your photos & reading about your journey! I am finally Mrs. O'Hara now, we went to Hawaii & had a blast! I will have many pics to show you when you come back. It sounds like you are having a wonderful time! Wish I was there with you! I have been thinking about you so much. I saw your mom the week before the wedding & she told me all about the killer whale you saw! WOW! I can only imagine everything you are experiencing!!!
