The current conditions of sweatshops today, globally, are un-believable. There are below minimum wage pay, overtime that is unpaid, denial of breaks, and overall abuse. One specific company that uses sweatshops to create their products is Nike. Nike's sweatshops are located in China, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Mexico. Because labor is cheaper in Mexico than in the U.S, it is convenient for American companies like Nike to make their products in Mexico. Some factories have more than a thousand people and some are placed underground. There have been claims from the workers that they have been physically and emotionally abused. Resources say they work 16 hours a day and 7 days a week. On top of the hours the workers are paid lower than $1 per hour. What can be done to make products without cheap labor is for everyone to get their education. Quality education results into good paying jobs; therefore, ending cheap labor.
